Frank Miller says his next project will be a graphic novel pitting Batman against Al Qaeda forces that attack Gotham.
Miller, who revitalized the Bat in the mid-’80s by replacing the usual camp with darker storylines, admits that the graphic novel, titled “Holy Terror, Batman,” is pure propaganda. He likens it to World War II era comics that had Superman and Captain America punching out Adolf Hitler. The new book will be about 200 pages, and written, drawn, and inked by Miller and will have Batman kicking lots of Al Qaeda butt.
“These are our folk heroes,” Miller said during a panel at WonderCon in San Francico on February 12. “It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you’ve got Al Qaeda out there.”
