“V for Vendetta” director James McTeigue wants to tackle another Alan Moore work — “Watchmen.” In an interview with IESB.net at the recent New York Comic-Con, McTeigue expressed interest in directing the adaptation, which has been in development hell for years.
Last we heard, Paramount dropped the project about a year ago. Paul Greengrass was on board to direct, Lloyd Levin and Larry Gordon were producing, and David Hayter had written the script.
It’s not known if McTeigue is even being considered for the job, but if “V for Vendetta” rakes in the cash at the box office, we might just see a “Watchmen” movie directed by McTeigue soon.
We’ll keep you posted!
Watchmen is unfilmable. You can quote me on that.
When I think of The Comic Book series The Watchmen, I share the feelings of Dr. Wu, The Watchmen movie is unfilmable. The real question is, will it be filmed? It probably will because comic book films make money and depending on another highly anticipated Alan Moore penned story, V for Vendetta, Watchmen may be on the Hollywood fast track. This makes me even more excited about V because if it is done well and is great, then I would like McTeigue to be the one to take a stab at Watchmen. With a little “Crash” sensibility, I think it could be filmable.
