Bytes: Chef Quits, Del Toro a Wolfman
- Benicio Del Toro has landed the starring role in a remake of THE WOLFMAN.
- Rapper-actor Ice Cube will produce and star in a big-screen version of the ’70s TV show WELCOME BACK, KOTTER. No word on who’ll play Horshack.
- Joss Whedon says he’s almost finished writing the script for the WONDER WOMAN movie and hopes production will begin later this year.
- It’s rumored that director Robert Rodriguez wants Angelina Jolie to star in SIN CITY 2.
- Pixar’s eigth animated feature film will be RATATOUILLE, about a mouse who lives in a Paris restaurant. It’s slated for a June 29, 2007 release.
- An upated version of THE DIRTY DOZEN is in the works from Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver.
- Another has-been has been added to the CW’s AQUAMAN pilot. Lou (LA BAMBA) Diamond Phillips will reportedly play Tom Curry, the father of Aquaman / Tom Curry. Ving Rhames is on board for the series, too.
- Isaac Hayes has quit SOUTH PARK, in which he voiced the character Chef since 1997, because of the show’s take on religion. Hayes is a devout Scientologist.
- DC will publish four comic book prequels to SUPERMAN RETURNS in June, with plots by the film’s director Bryan Singer and screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
