I like what you have written here Tim as you are more of a realist, you look at the whole picture rather than just part of it and I think that is what makes your work stand out and shine. Even though I do like some sweet Christmas films, I must admit, I do like A Christmas Carol very much so, there is a moral there and the narrative structure is very strong and is a story that will weave it's way throughout all generations, it is timeless....

Excellent Tim!

Like your taste Tim. I usually steer clear of all christmas film fodder. But now that i have my own scallywags I will be searching out the darkest and best for family veiwing. I agree with your selection and will probably take another look at The Thin Man series again and Were no Angels. I saw these films when I was younger (alot) and even then realised that they were great fun, but with that edge. Films seem to pussy foot around now a days - happy happy OR they are just one black note held down so the dumbest of peole get it. I think the audience isactually starved for films that play a variety of notes in a unpredictable and human way.... Blah blah... Anyway, thanks for the words Tim. Cheeers.

Tim rocks! I hope he gets a big fat book deal someday so everyone will see his greatness.
I love A CHRISTMAS CAROL...it is the ultimate holiday story. And I love Patrick Stewart's portrayal, although that Ghost of Christmas Past (Joel Grey) creeps me out every time I watch it. He looks like that albino character that Martin Short used to do. I expect him to break out into a musical rendition of Dante's Inferno at any moment.
As I said in another post, THE FIVE THOUSAND FINGERS OF DOCTOR T is also one of my all-time fave Christmas movies. It features a maniacal white-haired piano teacher (Hans Conried..you can't go wrong!) who steals children and makes them play the piano while he steals their joy and their mothers, plying them with pickle juice. If you haven't seen it, check it out. Keep writing, Tim!
