The sequel, which opened in theatres in Russia on January 1, 2006, will open in the U.S. on June 1, 2007.
Set in contemporary Moscow, Day Watch (Dnevnoi Dozor) revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness — the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides.
Day Watch, which is based on the novel by Sergei Lukyanenko, was directed by Timur Bekmambetov, who along with Lukyanenko and Alexander Talal wrote the screenplay.
As previously reported here, Bekmambetov will direct Wanted, the action film to star Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman and based on the graphic novel. Wanted begins shooting in Eastern Europe in May.
