USA Today has a first look at the upcoming Get Smart movie, starring Steve Carell as Agent Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway as Agent 99.
In the article, director Peter Segal talks about how his movie — a remake of the classic TV series starring Don Adams and Barbara Feldon — handles major world changes that have occurred since the series premiered in 1965, like the fall of communism and the rise of feminism.
The remake will include an origin story on how Smart became an agent and how he met 99. The two secret agents will still work for CONTROL and KAOS is still the enemy. While Smart’s shoe-phone and Cone of Silence will return, no word yet if 99’s fingernail phone will make an appearance (doubt it).
Get Smart is scheduled to hit theaters June 2008.
