Once again, Star Wars history has been rewritten!
A new statue, featuring Max Rebo, Sy Snootles, and Droopy McCool, is referred to as Jabba’s Palace Band instead of the band’s original moniker The Max Rebo Band. Looks like band leader Max Rebo better check his contract, I’m not sure his ego would appreciate this slight.
On top of that, the original trio — seen performing on screen in Return of the Jedi — has somehow become a quartet with the addition in this statue of Jabba the Hutt’s minion Salacious Crumb. What exactly does Crumb do in this band? Or is he just a groupie? Perhaps he’s there to “raise the roof.”
Interestingly enough, we can see Crumb clearly in this statue, yet there’s no mention of his appearance anywhere in the item’s description. Hmm…
Well, at least the annoying backup dancers and other musicians that were CGIed into the 1997 Special Editions aren’t represented in this statue. Perhaps that means this “Jabba’s Palace Band” is actually playing “Lapti Nek,” not that song’s campy Special Edition replacement, “Jedi Rocks.”
