Fiesta Week 2007

Inknstein   |    |

Well, it’s the end of Fiesta in good old San Antonio, TX. Fiesta is a 10-day city-wide annual event held in April when the city goes crazy with parties and music and food.

The city closes down for one day — usually the 1st day of Fiesta which usually falls on a Friday — so the people can go nuts for this party with festivals are held throughout the area in different venues.

My favorite part of Fiesta is the last day and the Fiesta Pooch Parade. This is when all the dog lovers all over San Antonio come out and bring their dogs dressed up for this event. To me, this is the best venue or event of Fiesta, because if you are a dog lover like myself you get to see all types of dogs and get to meet all types of people.

This was my first Fiesta Pooch Parade and I did not expect so many people and so many dogs. But it was great even with not-so-great weather. There was a good turn out and the people and the dogs were and are very friendly. All the dogs and the dog owners got along well, no fights from the owners and none from the dogs, which is very surprising when you get that many dogs together.

You can see the turn out and the costumes the owners and the dogs wore, they also had a best-dressed pooch award, which I think is very cool. This was a great venue, everyone got along well, and nobody had attitude (people). It did not matter what or who you were, it was all for the dogs and to me that is very cool. I will be making this a regular part of my Fiesta celebration in years to come and also take my dogs there to show them off.

If you’ve never been to Fiesta, it is fun and crazy at the same time, but once you have done it, it is hard to keep going back. But every year the madness keeps growing and people still love it. Everyone makes plans on which venues to go to and see bands and eat food. I have been to all the venues and they are quite a site to be seen and to take part of.

If you ever want to come to San Antonio for a vacation — but not in the summer — I recommend this week because it is a party that you should experience.
