The King of Kong, the documentary about rival gamers battling for the high score in the 80’s arcade favorite Donkey Kong, was a hit at this year’s TriBeCa Festival. New Line Cinema announced plans to adapt it into a feature film, with the doc’s original director Seth Gordon at the helm.
Today, Variety reported that the studio is going ahead with its remake plans and has hired Michael Bacall (Manic) to script.
The King of Kong is scheduled to hit theaters August 17, 2007.
