Sam J. Jones, who starred as the title character in the 1980 cult classic Flash Gordon movie, will guest star in an upcoming episode of the SCI FI Channel original series Flash Gordon. Jones will be playing a character named Krebb in an episode titled “Revelations,” which is set to air in October.

Mark Stern, executive vice president of SCI FI Channel, said earlier this month that the show’s producers were working on incorporating a cameo appearance by Jones into the series.

The 22-episode first season of the series, which is a contemporary retelling of the 1934 comic strip created by Alex Raymond, will also star Gina Holden as Dale Arden, Jody Racicot as Dr. Hans Zarkov, and John Ralston as the evil ruler Ming the Merciless.
