I've stopped at this passage reading this: "At times, Sunshine plays like the smart hard science fiction of Arthur C. Clarke, David Brin, Gregory Benford, and Greg Bear, just to name a few authors I like and admire. Those authors always made me wish I knew my sciences better. They made it look like so much fun."

Clarke made the science look like fun, this movie makes it look funny.

Ok, the movie doesn't have too much science in it and that's actually good for the movie, not so good for a science-fiction pretending to be movie tho. The problem is that the few science present in film is bad (human body instantly freezing in space, gravity issues,...)
So I wouldn't really compare this with something done by Clarke.

About the movie, it looked like something "If they've put a man on the moon I'm sure we can put Fredy Krugger on the Sun"
Let's face it - it's more of a slasher than a sci-fi movie.
It has too many religious mumbo-jumbo also.

Sunshine contained some really beautiful moments. My only wish was that the camera would linger on them longer. The concept was good. The cast was good. Unfortunately I thought the whole "creepy stalker" part near the end got kinda silly. I wish they could've done without that.

This film was doin pretty good for me until the "revelation" (i wont spoil it for those who've seen it) at that point.. it was just a lump of nothing. The cast themselves did very well throughout the whole movie thought, it was just a single plot twist though, that made me dislike it overall
