1. Sandman
2. Transmetropolitan, or James Robinson's Starman
3. Live Action
4. I think any comic where the publisher is willing to trade off accuracy and continuity for the sake of getting it on film will be a disaster. X-Men 3, Electra, Batman and Robin, Nick Fury, The Dolph Lundgren Punisher, Captain America, The Hulk, almost any made for TV comic story.

Two comics that would make GREAT movies would be The Walking Dead and Y:the Last Man.

I agree that the Watchmen could easily be butchered.

1) Tales of the Beanworld

2) Probably none, since nearly every comic book adaptation seems to suck dead moose cock.

3) N/A.

4) I don't think it's a matter of good adaptations not being possible for most things, but one of projects being given to the wrong people or studios. Daredevil is a classic example: one of my favorite comics, it could have, and should have been fucking amazing, but it was a steaming pile of shit. And there is no good reason for this whatsoever.

Then there are the reverse cases, like Mallrats, which was effectively a comic on film that just happened to not have an actual comic. People hated it, and Kevin Smith actually apologized for making it. I understand he did what he had to do to keep making movies, but in art terms, that was kind of a bullshit move. But even more bullshit a move on the part of viewers who refused to accept it for what it was: a comic on film.

Loved Spiderman comix...especially the McFarlane ones, but the movies were SOOOO incredibly lame (imho).

and a very strange comic from the 60s or 70s call "Plop" (indie).

1. Dawn, Witchblade, Shi, Fathom

2. Marvel's Civil War would be interesting or possibly JLA: New Frontier

3. Either would have to be animated in someway to pull them off. 3-D animation would be cool.

4. I would say the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie was crap.

1. THE UNCANNY X-MEN
2. I would really like to see THE AVENGERS as a live-action film. I think if the right people are behind it, it could work. But only after the team members had their own solo film first.
3. I think both could work if the effort is there.
4. Definitely ELEKTRA. I love the comic book Elektra [especially Frank Miller's take on her] but the film adaptation of the character really lacked and Jennifer Garner wasn't really a right fit. Don't get me wrong. I loved the revealing outfits LOL but I just don't feel that DAREDEVIL was THAT successful for a spin-off.

1.- Sandman

2.- Lobo (Great Action / Humor Movie!)

3.- Action would be great, but for the level of detail for the gags i think it would have to be animated

4.-Sandman / Watchmen

My favorite comic these days is a toss up between FELL (Warren Ellis) and THE WALKING DEAD (Robert Kirkman). That's not all time favorite mind you, but I do love 'em both. For all time favorite, gosh... I'm going with Miller's DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. That's the book that pretty much ushered me into adulthood, comic-wise.

Having finally gotten around to reading PLANETARY (Ellis, again) this past month, I have to say that it would probably make an insanely great animated series---but only if it was done unrestricted by one of the premium outlets, like HBO, Showtime, or SpikeTV for that matter.

I'm thinking that Alan Moore's WATCHMEN should stay unmade. I have very, very little confidence that the upcoming movie will do the story ANY justice at all. Also, those of you out there that have had the occasion to see the unreleased version of Roger Corman's FANTASTIC FOUR are likely with me in thanking our lucky stars that it stayed unreleased.

I have to second the recomendation for "Amazing Screw-on Head." Not only is it the closest adaptation of a comic book ever, perfectly capturing Mike Mignola's art, it's also damn funny with some great voice performances from Paul Giamanti and David Hyde Pierce. My only complaint was how short it was.

As for the discussion at hand:

1) Favorite of the moment is a toss up between Fables and DMZ.
2) Sandman could make a really good movie, so long as they do one of the stories that he's not really in (ala the issues from Dream Country or Fables and Reflections) and don't try to get into the whole big arc of the actual series.
3) Live action. Still want to see Gary Oldman as the Sandman. Perfect casting all these years later.
4) My gut reaction is Swamp Thing 2, but that had a young Heather Locklear making out with a tree elemental, so that's out. I'll go with X3. Too much going on, nothing explained, crap effects. Should have given the film more time for polish and a decent director.

1) I grew up on more Manga then comics, Ruroni Kenshin is one of my favorites. Also I do have a lot of marvel comics
2) Origin (Wolverine's story) would be pretty bad ass, though it would probably screw up a lot of what Hollywood has already done for X-men
3) My choice could work both ways I think, because they are not really super here clad, though sometimes the costumes stuff is hard to make not look cheesy in live action.
4) I agree with the TV made Nick Fury, but it did have Hasselhoff as nick fury, The FF movies and X-men 3 were pretty bad too.

1. Mage: Hero Discovered
2. WE 3
3. The story is solid enough for both.
4. Never been: Ghost Rider and Daredevil. Less so not because of the subject matter and more because of the director. He did both.

[ED NOTE: WE 3 is by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely]

I just watched an interesting animated film that was adapted to a film it is called "Amazing Screw on Head". Only 42 minutes long but it felt shorter and makes you wanting more of the movie or more of the series. I recommend you all check it out.

http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Amazing_Screw-On_Head/70059785?trkid=200611

This could become one of my favorite animated movies, the style the story, etc.

1. Superman, a classic.

2. Well, I always thought the Death of Superman would have made a great movie, but now they are releasing an animated version, which I'm not sure is the best medium for it. We'll see. I would have liked to have seen Knightfall turned into a Batman film back before Batman and Robin ruined the idea of Bane.

3. I prefer live action.

4. Daredevil, because it spawned Elektra and two words: Ben Affleck.

1. Sandman, still after all these years.
2. Grendel
3. Live/Animation like Renaissance
4. I would agree with Electra, but the made for tv adaptation of Nick Fury movie was a crying shame too.

3. Live/Animation like Renaissance
4. I would agree with Electra, but the made for tv adaptation of Nick Fury movie was a crying shame too.

I am just doing this off the top of my head.
1. Growing up The Faantastic Four was my favorite.
2. Gen 13-- I got caught up in the whole Image thing back in the 90s.
3. Live action
4. This is a hard one. Of what has been made I would have to say Electra, just because it lost any of the msytique and energy from the Frank Miller books that I love.
