I’ve only played a small amount of one of the Prince of Persia games, but I enjoyed it and got an idea for the character. Recently, when talks of Orlando Bloom taking the role spread, I thought it was a decent enough choice although I don’t see him being very Persian-esque.
According to Latino Review, Bloom will not to star, as the role has been offered to Jake Gyllenhaal. Again, good choice, but still a very non-Persian look. I guess we will have to wait and see if he accepts the offer and if he can carry this franchise on his back.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is being directed by Mike Newell and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It’s being distributed by Disney and is looking at a July 10, 2009 release date.
Not a bad choice.
good choice, I guess, but like you said, he doesn’t look very Persian…
it’d be cool if they chose a Persian actor or something, but I really doubt it.
Argh!! Noo! Orlando, Zac and Jake are NOT believable princes! If they do not get the lead role (the prince) absolutely right, then this movie will have such a short term value, and will only make a quick buck at the box office in terms of first week sales! This movie has the potential to be an epic which will be watched in 30 years time!, everyone is screaming of a PERSIAN PRINCE, give the people who will watch the movie what they want!!

It was rumored last month that the Zodiac star had been offered the role (see Is Jake Gyllenhaal A ‘Prince of Persia’?). [...]
