The Spider-Man movie franchise has definitely brought Sony a lot of good press, despite the lackluster outing the third installment made. However with Tobey Maguire playing Peter Parker, aka, Spider-Man, I’m not 100% certain what they were expecting (it should always have been Topher Grace).
Now a new scoop out of Cinematical has reinvigorated Spider-Man fans the world over, with the possibility that future Spider-Man movies 4 and 5 could be filmed at the same time.
The news goes that within the last few weeks, James Vanderbilt turned in a working draft of a fourth installment for the Spider-Man franchise. According to their source, “his story arc has encompassed two films, making Spider-Man 5 shootable at the same time. The studio saw dollar signs and is in the process of reworking his deal to snatch up the story arc.”
Naturally there is no word on what the story arc would be, and there will likely be no confirmations on any of this for some time, as it appears both sides are still trying to work out the minutia of it all. But it definitely adds some spark to the Spider-Man franchise once again.
But just because there is no official word doesn’t mean that we can’t all theorize like crazy. For my bet, having spent a lot of time with Spider-Man over my life, I would suggest a paired installment would weave a storyline including the return of a goblin of some sort — there always were a lot of them — and the Kingpin.

yeah, when i was watching spiderman 3 i kept thinking….wow..i seriously wish the guy playing venom was the lead in this series…….

Topher Grace would have been the most annoying Peter Parker imaginable. Watch Ang Lee’s “The Ice Storm” and it should be obvious why Maguire landed the role.
Also, it should be “minutiae.” Good to know, if you’re a writer.

I was definitely disappointed in almost all aspects of Spiderman 3. A story arch over 2 sequels and better character/story development would be welcome.
Hobgoblin may not be that bad – but my favorite Spiderman story was the Kraven storyline which spanned 3 different Spiderman comics. An adaption of that may be too dark though.
For the 4th/5th films, the hobgoblin should be in it. That means goblin suit and orange hooded cape! & maybe the lizard would be cool too.
I wished they had made 3 into two parts, but this sounds like a great idea.

i dont know what yall are talkin bout. if anyone of u have ever read a spiderman comic book in your entire life you know it was tied in well and was a pretty good movie. however for the fourth, cast must remain same in order to keep illusion of the movies. carnage must not come as he is the most over rated villian ever. hobgoblin and king pin are a must along with the death of aunt may and mary jane. venom is gone the lizard is on his way the only two other must have villians (though other interesting ones are available though not with the direction the franchise is currently headed) are vulture and the scorpion.
o and raimi must direct or itll be a complete bust

they need to FINALLY bring out the lizard and tie in a twist w/ dr. conners and the symbiote, and then lead into the carnage saga………..and please God give carnage more than 20 minutes in the movie…..they really srewed up w/ venom.
i think they should have the return of the symbiote…aka CARNAGE BABY!! maybe the lizard since Dr.Connors has made more apperances goin up from spider-man 1….also wouldn’t it be kewl if in the 5th spider-man they tie in iron man or any of the avengers? after all they did do it in iron man
They need lizzard and carnge it follows the 3rd very well, but for that 2 happen spider-man would get help from sand man (i think if it dosent happen spidey and sand man should help each other
I think that Carnage and the Lizard should be in the fourth spider-man because they both cause a lot of destruction. T think the kingpin and Rhyno should be in the fifth spider-man. because they both are very powerful people for spider-man to take on. I also think sandman should return in the fourth movie to help spider-man fight the other two. because harry was killed by venom. Another thing is they should put three villians in the fifth one because they put one in the first two films and two in the third film. If so i think electro should be in the fifth film.

I like spiderman 3 though what your comments say… I would definitely be amazed if there is another sequel. In fact, films 4-5 must be better than the 3rd film…
A villain??? I don’t know but the context could be related with his identity and how some bad people is trying to discovered it. Spiderman has lots of enemies, so it’s quite complicated to choose one.
I think that in Spiderman 4, they should put in The Lizard. Because he was in 1,2,3. Also they should put in Carnage and Venom because i think that Venom disappeared in number 3. Also Dr Conners had a sample of the Symbiote in number 3, that is way it would be great if Carnage was in number 4. It would be good if Jim Carry was the actor for Carnage in number 4. Then it would be good if Gwen Stacey got Married to Peter Parker in number 4 to. Because their was something going on with Peter and Stacey in number 3. Next Bryce Dallas Howard should be the Black cat in number 4. Then Spiderman and Black cat can help each other. In number 5 i think that Spiderman should transform into the human Spider, because he was bit in the 1 movie. Then it would be really good if that when Spiderman transform into the human spider he should fight Morbius the Vampire, As well the Kingpine. In number 6 Spiderman should fight Shocker,Hydro-Man.
