‘Iron Man’ Writers To Reinvent ‘Highlander’ Series

The Movie God   |    |

HighlanderAh, will we ever see an original movie again?

Another movie from the ’80s is joining an already-existing collection of them that are being remade/reinvented/reimagined. This time, it’s Highlander, the fantasy film about a group of immortals who must battle each other for the ultimate prize until there is only one of them left.

Summit Entertainment is producing the flick with Iron Man writing team Art Marcum and Matt Holloway writing the script and Peter Davis, who produced the original film, producing here as well. Production is to being next year on the remake, which Summit hopes will kickstart a future franchise.

The first film, which was released in 1986, starred Christopher Lambert as the title character, along with Sean Connery his immortal mentor. It’s since had four movie sequels and three television spinoffs.

I think I get it now; Hollywood is saying that every movie that came out in the ’80s was bad and should be made great by our endless nifty computer tricks and special effects. Huh.

Thomas Jane in the Christopher Lambert role? Anyone?

Why??? First Robocop and now this… Remakes should be absolutely banned for all time. Does anyone hate the remakes of Psycho, The Omen, etc as much as i do? Are they planning on destroying all of my favorite movies?

Bad enough about Terminator, which has taken a turn for the worse since T3; but at least the series is ok and they are making sequels which *could* be good.

But remakes? With so many scifi/fantasy books out there screaming to be adapted?

  2. Cinema Junkie Says:

I like the first Highlander a lot. Did not care for the sequels or the tv series. This is another bad idea. I ma having second thoughts on this Terminator reboot as well. There are a lot of original ideas out there to harvest and produce.
    Enough… please just stop.
