Sliders: The Fourth Season DVDSliders
The Fourth Season
Starring Jerry O’Connell, Kari Wuhrer, Cleavant Derricks
Universal Studios Home Entertainment
Release Date: March 25, 2008

This 5-disc DVD box set includes all 22 episodes of Season Four, with each 45-minute episode having Quinn and his comrades — Sliders — travel to different Parallel Earths via wormhole all while trying to get back home to Earth Prime.

In Sliders: The Fourth Season, Quinn Mallory (Jerry O’Connell) and fellow slider Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) have made it home to Earth Prime only to find that it has been taken over by a subhuman creatures from a parallel Earth called Kromaggs. Now they must break fellow slider Rembrandt aka Remy (Cleavant Derricks) out of the prison “Reeducation” center. As they are breaking Remy out, they learn the fate of the last fellow slider Wade (Sabrina Lloyd) and then Quinn gets caught.

While Quinn is in containment he meets up with his Mother but is she really his mother? No, she confesses, she is not. When Quinn was a baby, his real parents left him with their Parallel Earth twins to keep him safe. They promised to come back when and if it was safe to reclaim him and left a microchip that would explain it all to Quinn. Along with the information on the microchip, Quinn learns that his birth parents were sliders themselves and that he has a brother, but the most important piece of information is that there is a weapon out there on one of the Parallel Earths that will defeat the Kromags and drive them out of Earth Prime and save his beloved Earth.

Season four will reveal the whereabouts of Quinn’s brother and take us on adventures of new and exciting Parallel Earths, where the Sliders will get into more dangerous situations. Will they rescue Quinn’s adoptive Mom? Will they find Wade? When and if they do, what condition will she be in. The most important question is, will they find the weapon to defeat the Kromags?

I have not watched this series in a while, but used to watch it weekly. I did not expect it to hold my attention, so I stopped viewing the show after a while. After watching this box set I ask, why did I stop? Yes, it is cheesy in some parts and some of the graphics are not the greatest, but over all it is fun and imaginative and haven’t you ever wondered what it would be like in a different dimension at some point in your life? The actors work well off of each other and immerse themselves into their characters. The scenery is well made and not over the top.

All in all, Season four promises to be exciting and action packed. This box set is a good addition to your sci-fi DVD collection.

If you’ve never seen the show, and want to jump on, check out the nine free episodes of Season One at Hulu’s Sliders page.

The packaging is definately an improvement from last season, plus the episodes are in the airing order which is nice with the play all feature.
