Here here. As someone who didn't see the movie in the theater (thus alleviating the pressure of being a summer blockbuster) and has no vested interest in The Hulk (comic book or TV show), I thought the movie was brilliant and one of my favorite comic book adaptations of all time.

No matter how good his verion was (and I still think it was utter crap) he had Bruce Banner changing into the Hulk while still in the crib... The basic premise of The Hulk went from being about a man who pushed the envelope of science to the breaking point and accidentally changed himself into a monster of world-threatening proportions to a guy who's daddy conducted scientific experiments on him while he was a baby. Huh?

How stoned could Ang Lee have been to have changed the story to that degree? And to have had the Absorbing Man, a prison thug who Loki gave power to in order to cause his brother Thor problems, was portrayed as the Hulk's brilliant scientist father?

Ang Lee should have read a comic book before he made what could have been an excellent film into a pile of poop that is still the 1 comic book-based movie I don't own in DVD (that's out in DVD that is.)

This article contains everything I've tried to explain to my friends and haters of Ang Lee's 'Hulk.' You expressed it so well, and I couldn't agree with you more. I saw 'The Incredible Hulk' today and it only made me want to rewatch this one.

Nolte was my favorite part of this film. I like the new film a lot, but I did not hate this film like so many other people. Sure, it may come off as pretentious at times, but it did dare to be different.

Pretty much captures what I think about the movie.

I'm always torn whether or not I like it. It's clearly one of the least entertaining comic book movies I've seen, yet at the same time one of the best when it comes to characterization and innovation. I *particularly* like the scenes-arranged-as-comic-page-panels cuts.
