When a movie has been bathed in rumors of troubles and possible cancellations and complete re-shoots, it’s, as you would guess, not a great sign. When the movie in question is something very special to you — a collected bit of nostalgia from your childhood — that is shaping out to be everything you could want it to be and is THEN bathed in disastrous rumors, well, that just breaks your heart.

As many of you will recall, Where the Wild Things Are was this movie. We saw some little pieces from it that amazed us; it looked exactly how it should have looked; a very talented director was attached; it was perfect. Then the rumors started flooding in, and if you’re not familiar with them all, feel free to check out my very first Geeks of Doom article here — ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ To Be Released October 2009.

Now, all those depressing rumors aside, we have a little gift from MTV; they were able to get their hands on a new image from the movie! Keep in mind that this in no way answers any of our questions about the movie or where it’s going, but it’s a great picture and it’s SOMETHING.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think that the Spike Jonez version that everyone wants to see (except the studio, apparently) is completed and that they wanted to re-do it — which means that even if it’s on DVD or something, I think that one day we will see the good version.

Let us all just hope it’s the first one we see instead of the back-up.
