Universal Studios has acquired the rights to Dugald A. Steer’s children’s book, Dragonology, which is lightly based on Ernest Drake’s theory that dragons actually existed (silly, old theory-izer-ers) and follows a group of men who are out to stop a nut-job from capturing all of the dragons and using them to basically take over the world.
The book is one of those fictional books that touts itself as non-fiction, hence being based on theories by the fictional Victorian dragonologist Ernest Drake. Similarly, Steer has penned Wizardology, supposedly written by Merlin himself.
Writing and executive producing duties will be given to Leonard Hartman, who’s pretty much an unknown at the moment.
Considering this is a children’s book, I can’t help but wonder if Universal will go all Eragon with this or if they’ll go at it with full-on dragon movie intentions.
