Anthony Michael Hall on That Pesky ‘Dark Knight’ Riddler Rumor
space
MajorJJH   |

AMHIt was one of the more promising rumors of 2007, when word swept the internets suggesting that Anthony Michael Hall had been brought on to The Dark Knight to portray an early version of The Riddler. We’ve since seen him positioned into a minor role, but what did the star of The Dead Zone television series think about those Riddler rumors?

“This is really funny, because I heard about the whole ‘Is he playing the Riddler?’ thing from my mother,” Hall said in an interview with Sci Fi Wire. “Between takes I walked out into the street. We were shooting in the lobby of a high-rise building in Chicago, and I walked out into the middle of the street to admire this absolutely beautiful gray Lamborghini that was actually Christian’s in the film. It looked like it was my car, and it looked like I was dressed to match it, and what happened was there were a lot of extras there [who] I think were going online and selling stories and circulating photos.”

Hall continued: “So the next you know, people thought I was playing the Riddler, that I had a cooler role than I actually did.”

Just looking at him immediately presents the possibility that he could feasibly portray the role of Edward Nigma, aka, The Riddler, last portrayed so beautifully by Jim Carrey in Batman Forever. But from all we’ve heard, the third film is going to be focusing on Two-Face, and I can’t see The Riddler being brought in to beef up the villains.

So, what role does Hall play? He’ll be in the role of Mike Engle, an TV news anchor of Gotham Tonight, which airs on the fictional Gotham Cable News network.

Check out the rest of the interview over at Sci Fi Wire.
