A list of the Top 10 Animal-Friendly Superheroes, as chosen by PETA, is now online, and Batman, Superman, and Wolverine are on it!
The superheroes on the list were chosen based their relationship with and consideration towards animals, and also on whether they go after animal abusers with the same zeal as when they save human society from impending doom.
It’s no surprise that Aquaman, Animal Man, and the vegan Beast Boy made the list, considering their animal abilities, but how did Wolverine, Jean Gray, and Wonder Man top this list? Turns out, they care when it comes to animals.
Thor gets a slot because in the Ultimate Avengers animated movie, he goes out to sea with a group of activists protesting whale slaughter, while in X-Men Unlimited #44, Wolverine and Jean Gray catch a group of boys torturing and killing animals, so Jean uses her powers to make the boys experience in their minds the pain they’ve inflicted on the animals. Now that is just awesome and the best way to teach a lesson, for sure.
