If you think that Beetlejuice, Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands tells the story of what Danny Elfman can do, I really recommend you pick up a copy of Music for a Darkened Theatre- Volume 2. He has had his hands on so many projects, most that would surprise some people, that it is hard not to give him credit for being versatile. Yes, he has a style, but he has masked it well in such scores as To Die For, Delores Claiborne and Black Beauty. And if you want to hear something that isn't even remotely Elfman-ish, check out Sommersby. The man has skills, don't sell him short.
