Yeah you missed A big one: AC/DC Brian Johnson replacing Bon Scott (RIP)22 Million copies + of Back in Black.

I’ll agree with you there…on Syd Barrett being replaced by Dave Gilmour.
Sweet went on tour with a new singer when Brian connolly died.
Nirvana turned into the Foo Fighters.
I guess that’s all a bit not right though. “replacing” a singer is not like “taking over” when the last one dies.
Unlucky Fried Kitten had Andy Fraser as singer but was taken over by Andy Export…if you talking technically. I didn’t know about the Martini Slutz though.
Steve ?????(not sure) took over from Hugh Cornwell as Starnglers frontman…like that could ever work…huh.
Faith No More replaced their singer too.

How could you not have AC/DC on this list? It is difficult for a band to survive the death of their lead singer, but they are probably the most successful out of all the bands that have had to.
Ian Astbury fronted the Doors a couple of times. Xray Spex replaced Poly a couple of times including once with my husband’s ex. Skeletal Family have replaced Anne Marie. The Jam gigged without Weller last year. The Ruts did a stint with Henry Rollins. The Dead Boys toured without Stiv.

Oh….can we count The Blockheads? Obviously they were Ian Dury and the Blockheads until Ian tragically passed away. They now tour as the Blockheads with a singer called Derek The Draw.
Also…comedian…Phill Jupitus has sung for them

Paul Rodgers is singing now for Queen, if that counts.
Martini Slutz (Unlucky Fried Kitten) did it with Andy Export
Genesis….if it counts that Pnil Collins became the singer when Peter Gabriel left????

The Misfits had two lead singers after Glenn Danzig left, first Michael Graves (who recorded two albums with them) and then bassist Jerry Only took over on vocals. Dead Kennedys tour without Jello Biafra. Napalm Death have had three lead singers, Lee Dorian (80s era, later of Cathedral), Barney Greenway (who did most of their albums) and some guy from either Extreme Noise Terror or Benediction who replaced Barney briefly. Bolt Thrower have had at least three singers. Exodus had Paul Bailoff (R.I.P.), Steve “Zetro” Sousa and the new guy on their latest album (I can’t recall his name). Bad Brains have tried to replace H.R. on many occasions, but he keeps coming back like a bad penny. The Germs toured with the actor who played Darby Crash in the Germs movie on vocals.

I did indeed front The Martini Slutz and was surprised at finding this on “search” (referring to Gaz Coombes’ post on here)
I’ve had my Unlucky Fried Kitten band for 13 years now…and The Martini Slutz lasted for about 2 years…maximum. So…top marks, Gaz, for unearthing THAT revelation. Cheers Guys

@Smed: The album Genesis made after Collins left was called ‘Calling All Stations’ and the singer was called Ray Wilson. They toured that album, but since Collins was also the drummer and had taken Genesis’s touring guitarist with him for his solo tour, they ended up replacing the singer, the drummer and the lead guitarist in one go. Only the bassist and the keyboardist remained from the previous tour. The album was OK, but no longer innovative enough to prog, and with Collins not snappy enough to be pop. Musical porridge.

Is that the real Gaz Coombes (from Supergrass)?

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band changed their lead singer, ’cause Alex Harvey died…

Slade have worked with other lead singers but i don’t think they recorded anything so i don’t know if that counts.

Queen is now Queen + Paul Rodgers, which again i don’t know if that counts.

Ted Nugent has worked with different lead singers, including Meat Loaf.

Hi….The Stranglers tried to replace Hugh Cornwell…which didn’t work. Faith No More…that’s already been mentioned, I think.
The Martini Slutz had 3 singers, I think. The middle one…Andy Export went on to front the “interesting” Dury-esque band, Unlucky Fried Kitten (who are still gigging today)
Sham 69 have been gigging with a replacement for Jimmy Pursey..and if my memory serves me well the new singer was actually just a Sham 69 fan.
Ian Dury and the Blockheads (mentioned earlier with Unlucky Fried Kitten) sadly lost Ian Dury in 2000 and the Blockheads have been touring with a new guy, who is actually very good…but nobody can replace, Ian. The Blockheads have also been touring with Phil Jupitus on vocals. It’s appreciated that Phil is no doubt a fan…but personally I feel it didn’t work with him.
The Sex Pistols reformed with some twat called John Lydon taking over the vocals from Johnny Rotten.

Don’t forget that Genesis made one album after Phil Collins left with some singer that I don’t remember and no one else did because the album stunk and no one bought it.

One could say the Lemonheads changed lead singers, but in reality it was split between Ben Deily and Evan Dando, and then when Deily left Dando was the man.

The Darkness found a new singer after Justin Hawkins left, but they actually renamed themselves Stone Gods instead of continuing as the Darkness.

Blind Melon changed singers, but that was 10 or so years after the fact.

Yes actually had a different singer for their Drama album – Trevor Horn. Anderson left after Tormato, so the band drafted the Buggles (no kidding) to fill in for an album and a tour.

Then there’s black flag – starting with Keith Morris, then Rob Reyes, then Dez Cadenza, then Rollins. The compilation “Everything Went Black” has cuts from the first three, and “Police Story” (and I think “Depression” and “Gimme Gimme Gimme”) has been cut by all FOUR singers.

Rainbow went from Dio to Graham Bonnet to Joe Lynn Turner.

Did the Michael Schencker Group change lead singers a few times?

Pink Floyd has had a run of lead singers. All from within the band, but a variety of them nonetheless.
