First, just to clarify upon a previous comment, only the 2008 Incredible Hulk was produced solely by Marvel Studios and distributed via Universal Studios.
Iron Man was also a Marvel Studios production with Paramount distributing.

Spiderman 3 was a Sony Pictures production, Ghost Rider a Columbia Pictures product and Elektra was done by 20th Century Fox. All three studios licensed those properties from Marvel, but really, the comic book giant didn't have significant say in how to translate their characters from printed pages to movie screens.

As for Captain America, if Marvel manages to translate the spirit of the man that embodies our nation and not just an empty green-screen action extravaganza, I'll be a happy movie-goer.

"For he exemplifies the best in us and all that we can be and may yet achieve even in times of uncertainty and despair."

There can be a lot of potential with this movie. Captain America is what a lot of people grew up with. If they can get John Favero to write and direct this movie, I can see this movie easily surpassing Iron Man's numbers.

So far it sounds like the original storyline, and I hope they stick to it.. My concern is his costume, maybe some "Dark Knight-ish" aesthetics?..

"Current Marvel standards"? Besides Iron Man, there aren't any other really good Marvel movies lately. Incredible Hulk, Spider-man 3, Ghost Rider, Elektra: not sure what standard a Marvel movie has.

DC does have Watchmen coming out. I suspect that people are a lot more excited about that than any vaporware Captain America and Avenger movies.
