You do realize that "greatest chase sequence" in Temple of Doom was, in fact, pretty much all puppets and stop-motion. No more "real" than any CGI imagery. The series is riddled with matte paintings and simulations of reality. To gripe because the new film does the same thing with new technology is downright silly.

Is it as good as Raiders? No - nothing ever will be. Temple and Crusade have their charms, but they fall far short. Crystal Skull does as well, but I certainly found it as entertaining as Crusade, my least favorite of the original three.

I don't care with what added effects they can do for the DVD. This movie was awful, and I wished they would have never made it. On a recent episode of South Park, the town decides to arrest Spielberg and Lucas for rapeing Indi. That's pretty much how I feel when it came to this last movie.
