Brad Pitt’s Semi-Return To Greek Mythology With ‘The Odyssey’

The Movie God   |    |

OdysseyGeorge Miller and Warner Bros. have apparently gotten their hands on Brad Pitt to take Homer’s The Odyssey and make a movie version that’s would be a futuristic tale set in outer space.

This would mark a return to mythological Greece for Pitt, who previously portrayed famed heroic warrior Achilles in 2004’s Troy.

The story of the The Odyssey follows Odysseus after the events of The Iliad and the Trojan War and his journey through all kinds of fantastical adventures to get home to his wife and child.

This news would typically make my day — as I’ve said before I’m a complete sucker for anything Greek Mythology, and with all the projects that fit that mold that are slated for production, how could I not be psyched? — but unfortunately, with them wanting to make this all futuristic, I have trouble being such. That paired with f’n Ratner doing God of War and my Mythological-based cinema luck is in the midst of a big storm.

Aside from poor luck for myself, this does sound like it has the potential on its own to be a cool project, so it has that going for it.

Brad Pitt is such a once in a generation Epic actor… his movie choices will resonate for such a long time in cinema history. Give him a single scene and he can melt a thousand hearts

  2. Schutzenegger Says:

Brad Pitt doesn’t really do anything for me… I’m underwhelmed when it comes to his acting prowess
The concept itself sounds like they could have something on their hand. I’m pretty sure film crews are tired of going out to the desert…

  3. JoJo Says:

Pitt is an awesome actor. NOT everything he touches turns to gold, But he does a better job than most.

  4. Siah Says:

I think this can work. Pitt can certainly provide a dominant performance.. This reminds me of the 360 game Too Human, the concept of taking old mythology (in Too Human’s case Norse) and transcending it to a futuristic setting works well.. cant wait to see this on the screen..

  5. RAHEEL Says:

    i just love greeks Mythology

  6. nano X Says:

Pitt and ALL the rest of Hollywood covering for the most awesomely genocidal regime in history —across the Pacific!
    ABSOLUTE FACT

—Now enjoy your cirle-jerk techno slop disguised as a movie.
