I thought the movie was terrible - overlong and loaded with political symbolism that was hammered home in a very unsubtle way. I haven't read the books so I didn't understand quite a bit about the characters, and cared even less as they were all vile in their own ways, especially the slut Silk Spectre 2! There were only 2 things I liked - Rorschach as a character was awesome and the soundtrack was good. The rest was just dirge.

Having waited for this film for years, I have to say that it was freeking AWESOME!!!!!!

The ONLY complaint I have is the make up. I though Xerxes make up in 300 was bad, well, it was nothing compared to how bad Gugino looked in Imax. Goodes wig was really bad too.

If it doesn't look good in real life, don't film it, especially if you are filming in HD.

Besides that.... awesome.

I actually think Snyder took the material, respected it, and even made it better in spots.... like the red spots on Rorschachs mask when cleaving the kidnapper. I thought this visual symbolism worked much better than having him stand outside watching the building burn.

So good, can't wait to see it again, and then can't wait to see it in it's directors cut + Black Freighter Blu-ray.

Oh yea, good review!

We walked out after about 30, maybe 45 minutes, and got our money back. I agree this movie should never have been made -- because it was beyond STUPID! Nothing about those first 30-45 minutes was clear or entertaining. It was simply stupid!

Having not read the graphic novel, I was a bit thrown off by all the big blue penises... Dr. M can control matter itself, but he can't manufacture some fruit of the looms?

I like a lot of what you've written, but that ending... I also liked the squid ending better and I didn't like that so much either.

Truth be told, I do think it's the perfect epic. If pressed, I'd still prefer the greater detail of the book form, but the movie is a perfect synopsis that carries through sound & imagery what the book contains in the form of additional text (broadly speaking).
