Joss Whedon’s ‘Cabin In The Woods’ Casts Potential Victims

The Movie God   |    |

We don’t really know anything about the Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard horror movie, The Cabin in the Woods. What we do know, is that when a horror movie involving a cabin out in the woods casts five young actors for the movie, they’re most likely going to be gruesomely dismantled in some form or the other. Of course, we must keep in mind that this particular horror is supposedly going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen, so who knows. One or two may escape the cabin, if they’re lucky.

Kristen Connolly (Revolutionary Road), Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Anna Hutchison (Underbelly), Fran Kranz (Dollhouse) and Jesse Williams (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) have all been cast in the movie, joining Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, Billy Madison).

The movie is being written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, while Goddard — who has written multiple episodes of Lost as well as Cloverfield — will also make his directorial debut.

Whedon had this to say about the castings:

Finding this ensemble has been very hard and very rewarding. Each of the ‘kids’ is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts. These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we’ve corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can’t wait to harm them.

The Cabin in the Woods was initially set for an October release, but will now come out on February 5, 2010.

    @Sierra

    Even more faux-ironic is that Evil Dead: The Musical’s main song is “Cabin in the Woods” ooOOooOoh.
