‘Terminator Salvation’ Twitter Game; Console Game Preview

The Movie God   |    |

Terminator Salvation

Video game fanatics. Web game fanatics. It’s time to get your Terminator game on!

By now, we’re all aware that the McG directed and Christian Bale starring Terminator Salvation is moving full steam ahead toward its May 21, 2009 release. To help build even more excitement for the movie by utilizing the massively-popular and still-growing “penny for your thoughts” website: Twitter. Terminator also has a new multi-console video game coming out as well. We all know the track record for movie-based video games, but it doesn’t look too bad, so hopefully it will become a rare gem.

Here’s how the game works:

In the Terminator Salvation Twitter game, members of the human resistance communicate with each other through Twitter and turn to the community for help in decoding intercepted Skynet transmissions. Players earn points through timely assistance in decoding these messages and, with these points, rise in rank within the Resistance Army. Players must constantly be on guard against the machines, which periodically and randomly choose a number of players and penalize them a percentage of their points. A companion blog augments the information within Twitter and hosts a leader board for the game.

Along with the first attempted Twitter game, Terminator Salvation also has a game coming out on multiple platforms, as most movies tend to do come release time.

The game brings a new storyline to our fingertips where you get to play as John Connor two years before the events that we will witness in the movie. It will be a third-person shooter with the ability to take cover behind destructible environments while battling many well-known evil Skynet creations. One cool feature is that just taking down a robot doesn’t necessarily mean that you kill it. If it comes down to it, enemies will even crawl at you until you shut them down completely. A screenshot from the game can be seen above with many more screenshots available at the game’s official website.

Terminator Salvation the game will be released on May 19, 2009 on XBOX 360, PS3, and PC platforms.

Here’s the video player. With it, you can watch a couple trailers and as well as a gameplay video, a co-op video, and the game’s opening movie.
