IT seems like the cast, and Joss put there heart and soul into firefly and serenity. That's why it did so well. While i'd never want to see anyone put through hell, I'd love to see it return. THere's not much out there these days that speaks to folks like firefly and serenity do.

FOX is the ugly, cheap crack whore TV network that wants instant viewership by the first 15 minutes of any show airing or else you're on the cancellation chopping block. How the frak 'Dollhouse' managed to surivive a full season and renewed (AFAIK) for a second one is beyond me. If memory serves, doesn't Universal still have the rights to Firefly/Serenity since the movie was done thru them? I'd be sad and disappointed if Whedon doesn't return to his creation, but as long as Tim Minear is running the show, I'd still have faith in what may come from our beloved motley crew of outlaws, fugitives, and wanderers.

G'day Slipstream

True that it was because of the studios but it is also those same studios that might make the series return, but only if Mr Wheedon acts like a dog for them and does everything they say. I doubt he'd want to go through that again.

But wasn't the pain he suffered ultimately because of Fox's terrible decision making? It looked like he genuinely loved working on it, regardless.

I'm all cool with direct to video films, as it seems to be a fairly successful route for a few studios, like for the Stargate series or Bruce Timm's DC universe films (Superman: Doomsday, The New Frontier, Wonder Woman).

The only thing Firefly has right now is the periodic Serenity comic mini-series, which Whedon himself writes, and the pen and paper RPG that lets fans explore "their own" role in the Verse.

Would I like to see this happen? Sure. But I wouldn't want it to happen. If you take a look at the interviews with mr wheedon on the dvd's he explains that the show was one of the most intensely painful times of his life and only wants to move on and and as far away from firefly as possible. I wouldn't want any tv show at the expense of putting someone through hell and back and neither should any fan of mr wheedon.
