Check That: ‘Rambo 5′ To Incorporate Sci-Fi, NOT Set At Mexican Border

The Movie God   |    |

Rambo V

Just this past Monday, it was confirmed that a fifth movie in the Rambo franchise was officially given the go-ahead (Read: ‘Rambo 5′ Receives A Not At All Shocking Greenlight). In the Variety report, it was announced that this time, John Rambo would be heading back to the United States, and would be fighting “human traffickers and drug lords” on the Mexican border while trying to rescue a kidnapped little girl. As it turns out, this was about as far from the truth as can be. Ain’t It Cool News‘ Harry Knowles was able to talk to Sylvester Stallone himself, who shared what was really going down at this sure-to-be-messy new party. As it turns out, the movie will actually be introducing a touch of science fiction this time around.

First and foremost, it appears that the movie will be titled Rambo V: The Savage Hunt, as can be seen in the very, very basic poster that was made and can be seen above (click to go big). If this poster came from anywhere but the direct source, you would absolutely think it was fake, and probably be pretty confused, but there it is. And as the sub-title insinuates, this time, Rambo will be part of the hunt, as opposed to being hunted himself.

As for the storyline, John Rambo will be actually heading back to his roots in the great Pacific Northwest. Somewhere in the area, a highly-confidential, highly-controversial operation is in motion, which takes the best of the best soldiers and performs experiments on them in order to try and tap into that savage nature we have deep inside of us, which would in-turn, create the ultimate killing soldier. When these experiments naturally go very wrong, Rambo and a team of the best in quiet, efficient Black Operative soldiers are sent in to clean up this infinitely dangerous situation.

I don’t know about you kids, but I think this sounds a lot cooler than if it was at the Mexican border. Consensus seems to be that in the end, this could be a lot like Rambo meets a sorta Predator/Universal Soldier hybrid.

So, judging by this new twist, will you check out Rambo V: The Savage Hunt?

I like it better than the mexican border dealio but it sounds a bit campy (without knowing much about it, of course). The whole idea of the one time soldier being once again recruited for a black-ops mission has really been over-done, but I do love Rambo. I was hoping the series would continue with a Rambo who would take it upon himself to get something done and not through a government who threw him to the wolves in the first place. I can’t wait, though. Loves me some Rambo!

    Also, what an awful poster!

  3. burning_chrome Says:

So the supposed plot of Rambo V is basically a rip-off of Dog Soldiers? Walk away Sly, walk away, especially if “The Expendables” performs well at the box office.

  4. scrotumbagmonkeyflicker Says:

    Its Rambo. It will own.

  5. Devon Says:

I guess this means we’ll never see a sequel to Oscar?

  6. Joseph Says:

    ^^^
That is pretty much as obscure a reference as you can get with Sly. For that, I applaud you.
