Fillion is fantastic in his role as the world-famous novelist Richard "Rick" Castle, and has so much fun with the role, the viewer can't help but join in. The Season 1 DVD came out last month around the middle of the month (I have it at home), so Netflix it now if you can! I guarantee, you won't be disappointed. I was sad to see the article lump this one in with the other "cop, hospital, and forensic shows" that are "sickeningly overdone". I think Castle breathes a breath of fresh air into the whole genre. This show is one of my favorites on TV right now. I too really am not into cop shows, but this one feels different. More romantic comedy that knows its cheesy. What's really great is the cast as a whole. You already know The Fillion can play the older brother/father type (see Mal/Kaylee), so seeing him as a father to the red head you saw is totally natural and believable.
