Lita Ford Talks ‘Runaways’ Movie; Meets Star Scout Taylor-Compton

Empress Eve   |    |

Scout Taylor-Compton and Lita FordMetal Queen Lita Ford broke her silence regarding the bio-pic about The Runaways, the bio-pic based on the 1970s all-girl band of the same name of which Ford was the lead guitarist.

“Most people would want to be in a movie, but I sure didn’t want anything to do with this one,” admits Ford about the film, which has the working title of The Runaways. “They’re using my name and that makes me nervous as some of the people involved have tried to destroy my career since 1980.”

The film, written and directed by Floria Sigismondi based on Runaways singer Cherie Currie’s memoirs, stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, and Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford, and is scheduled for theatrical release in 2010

Apparently, Ford’s apprehension about The Runaways has changed a bit now that she’s actually met the 20-year-old actress who will portray her in the movie. Compton made a special trip out to Harrah’s in Lake Tahoe, Nevada last week to see Ford perform with Queensryche and to meet the musician. (See pictures from the meeting here below.)

“After meeting Scout this weekend, I feel so much better,” said Ford. “She has a heart and soul, unlike some of the people behind the movie. She also hawks a mean loogey and really is a lot like me. We both cried the first time we spoke. Scout rocks.”

Compton, who is also a singer and a drummer, said, “Lita Ford is an icon of rock and has always been a personal hero of mine…. I can’t wait for her to see the film. I put my heart and soul into portraying her and to find out she is such an amazing person was truly a blessing for me. It’s something I’ll never forget!”

The young actress is best known for her “scream queen” performances in recent horror films like Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, April Fool’s Day, Murder World, and Wicked Little Things.

Meanwhile, the 51-year-old rocker has been on a comeback trail, recently wrapping up a tour performing with Queensryche, and just released her first studio album in over 14 years, Wicked Wonderland.

Check out the pictures below from Compton’s meeting with Ford and Ford’s husband musician Jim Gillette.
