Pixar Continues Sequel Bonanza With ‘Monsters, Inc. 2′

The Movie God   |    |

Monsters, Inc.

Aside from the great Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Pixar Animations have always been very anti-sequel. And why not? Everything that they’ve done has been completely original and downright amazing.

Now, with Toy Story 3 coming out next and Cars 2 well on its way, as well as the constant demand from fans for The Incredibles 2, things are looking a tad more sequel-friendly over at Pixar, and it does not stop there. Latino Review has heard from an inside source that now there’s even a Monsters, Inc. 2 on the agenda for the studio.

Monsters, Inc. was incredibly popular so this comes as no big shock — I can see this much easier than said Cars 2, that’s for sure. Still, you can’t help but wonder why all of the sequels suddenly? Have the geniuses there finally run out of original ideas? I very much doubt this. Are they doing it in an attempt to secure some significant profits to be used on new original films? Could be, I suppose. Has Disney gotten their hands in too deep and are now controlling where things go? I shudder to think.

Whatever the reason, these movies look like they’re on the way!

Nothing is confirmed yet, but if this does happen, it’s almost guaranteed that both Billy Crystal and John Goodman will happily reprise their roles of Mike and Sully.

Pixar always has their schedule long-planned in advance, so any signs of Monsters, Inc. 2 are still a few years off, of course.

  1. Not That Guy Says:

If sequels are done well, then I’m all for them. Toy Story 2 was entertaining, and 3 looks like it will be good too. As long as Disney stays away from the direct-to-DVD sequel route they took for their own movies this could work.

  2. facepalm Says:

wow, another sequel that no one wants, and yet we still don’t have Incredibles 2.

  3. Paul Says:

I absolutely LOVE Monsters Inc! That said, I worry that a sequel won’t be able to capture the same magic as the original. Feel like the original story was all that could be done for the characters. Monsters Inc has already gone from scary to funny, inducing laughs to generate power for their city. What kind of Mosnters-specific conflict could a sequel tackle that other Pixar characters couldn’t?

  4. Clint Says:

I hear you face… sequel after sequel and they still won’t give Disney fans what they want.

    INCREDIBLES 2!!!

  5. facepalm Says:

hell they haven’t even released the first movie on BlueRay.

  6. Sara Says:

I’m usually wary when it comes to sequels, but I think that if they can get the original cast back (and I agree that it shouldn’t be a problem) and the writing is just as good as the original it will be fantastic! Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite movies (my boyfriend makes fun of me all the time “you’re 27 years old..” blah blah blah). Anyways, this made me very excited, and I’ll continue to keep my fingers crossed for The Incredibles 2!!!

  7. Dash Says:

Why All These Sequels?? When The Only One We Really Want Is The Incredibles 2!! This Week Ive Seen The Incredibles About 12 Times :( Its Such A Great Movie I Just Hope The Bring Out Number 2 :(
    Fingers Crossed :D
