Now, a music video for “Cherry Bomb,” featuring vocals by Fanning and Stewart, has been posted online. Watch the video here below.
I haven’t seen The Runaways yet, but I’ve watched enough previews and seen enough images to deduce that this video is compiled from footage from the film. It looks like a combination of on- and off-stage performances from the film, and for the on-stage clips, the movie band is playing the song.
It’s definitely worth watching, as the on-stage scenes look a lot like the footage from the 1970s of the all-girl rock band performing “Cherry Bomb” plus, there’s some scenes from the movie we haven’t seen already in clips, trailers, and pictures. And, finally, we get to see Scout Taylor-Compton in action as lead guitarist Lita Ford!
In the film, which opens everywhere on April 9, Fanning stars as Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie, with Kristen Stewart playing her bandmate guitarist Joan Jett. The Runaways will get a limited release in theaters on March 19 in select cities.
