Supernatural: The Complete Fifth Season Blu-ray | DVD
Created by Eric Kripke
Starring: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins
Warner Brothers Home Entertainment
Release Date: September 7, 2010
Back in the 80s and 90s, we watched the Ghostbusters take care of all of the ghosts, ghouls, and everything that went “bump” in the night. And as much as I loved watching them do their thing, there are now two guys, brothers in fact, that are a lot more badass now than ever. Enter Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, the stars of the hit CW TV series Supernatural.
For the past five years we have watched them hunt and kill almost everything from ghosts to demons, wendigos, vampires, and even angels. No matter what you can always count on them. And just in time for the season 6 premiere, which airs September 24, 2010 on the CW, we have the Season 5 release on Blu-ray and DVD.
In this season we see it begin where Season 4 left off with Sam killing Lillith who was the 66th seal and releasing Lucifer from Hell. Now Sam and Dean find themselves in a position they have never been in before and they are preparing for the fight of their lives, The Apocalypse. As they drive across America in that awesome ’67 Chevy Impala and trying to piece everything together, they are continued to be aided by their dad’s friend Bobby (Jim Beaver) and the angel warrior Castiel (Misha Collins). But everything depends on the brothers trying to figure out their greatest challenge yet, killing the Devil and stopping the Apocalypse!
To me, Season 5 seems like the most entertaining and powerful season yet. From start to finish it has great writing, acting, and storytelling. This however is creator Eric Kripke‘s last season on the show. It will have a new person leading the direction of the show. Good luck to them and I hope they keep it going as strong as he did, which from the Season 6 promo, it looks like they will.
Special features on this 4-disc Blu-ray set include: “Supernatural Apocalypse Survival Guides,” “Ghostfacers: The Web Series,” producer/writer commentary on the 4th episode “The End,” an unaired scene, and of course my personal favorite, the Gag Reel. So if you’re a fan of the show, then this is something you must see. And if you’re like me then this will be going in the collection and look really good sitting on the shelf, awaiting many more viewings.
