Must Watch: Shot-For-Shot Live-Action Remake Of ‘A Goofy Movie’

The Movie God   |

So you want to make movies but have no resources? Here’s a look at what 90 or so friends and family, six on-and-off months of work, a video camera (owned or borrowed — not stolen; that’s mean…and also illegal), obtainable programs like Final Cut Studio, and about $100 can get you.

A bunch of friends in Arizona with this particular list of ingredients got together as often as their schedules would allow them to, and what did they come up with? Well, they decided to film a shot-for-shot remake of a scene from Walt Disney’s 1995 animated flick, A Goofy Movie. The scene that they reproduced comes from the beginning on the movie where young Max Goof and the rest of his school break out into a sweet little musical number called “After Today.” The only negative is that we do not get a live-action Goofy himself, sadly.

Sing and dance your way on over to the other side to check out the video immediately! [...]

Eric Cartman’s Cover Of Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’ To Be Released On ‘Rock Band’

The Movie God   |

If someone were to ask you right this very moment that if you could choose any one song in the whole, wide world to have added to your dearest Rock Band, what would you choose? For those of you who said “I would want Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” as performed by Eric Cartman on Comedy Central’s South Park,” then boy, oh boy do I have a little treat for you!

Rock Band has officially announced that along with some actual Lady Gaga songs, they will also be adding Cartman’s beautiful rendition on the tune. The character, who of course is part of Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s vulgar animated South Park world, sang the song on Rock Band with Kenny and Kyle in the episode “Whale Whores.”

After your own night of karaoke, drunkenly stumble your way to the bottom of this post to watch Cartman get lyrical all up on ya’ll. [...]

UPDATED! The People Have Spoken: Betty White To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

The Movie God   |

Early last month, we shared with you a fan-fueled mission to find a way to get Golden Girls star Betty White to host an episode of Saturday Night Live (Read: Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It: Make Betty White An SNL Host!).

A special Facebook page was created for the job, and when we wrote about it then, it had 200,000 supporters. Now, it has almost 500,000 supporters, and the question looms larger than it ever has before: will Betty White get to host some SNL for us?

According to People, the answer to this question is yes. Speaking to the 88-year-old actress while she attended Elton John’s annual Oscars after-party, they seized the opportunity to ask her if she would be doing it, and she answered with a simple “yes.” And when they then went on to ask her what she thought of this random explosion of fan support, she replied “I don’t know why or how, but it’s been wonderful.” [...]

Presidents, Assemble! Will Ferrell, Jim Carrey, Chevy Chase & Others Give Barack Obama Advice

The Movie God   |

Funny or Die is known for their hilarious videos — many of which feature well-known actors in Saturday Night Live-like sketches.

Recently, the site released a new video directed by Ron Howard that reunited a bunch of SNL alumni and some special guests for a message about the Consumer Financial Protection Agency. The hopes here is that this message will reach the eyes of President Barack Obama and help him with some majorly important decisions.

SNL is renowned for always having someone who creates a comical caricature of whomever the President is at the time for use in the many skits that will be written using that person. Currently, that job is owned by Fred Armisen, who portrays Obama whenever a skit for him is penned.

Continue on over to the other side to see the video!

In this skit, Armisen is joined by Maya Rudolph as his wife Michelle Obama for the current White House inhabitants. They’re also joined by the likes of Will Ferrell, who is returning to do his famous George W. Bush character; Dana Carvey as his pops, George H.W. Bush Sr.; Darrell Hammond bringing back Bill Clinton; as well as Dan Aykroyd as Jimmy Carter, Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford, and a very special appearance by Jim Carrey as Ronald Reagan. [...]

Conan O’Brien To Go On Tour For His Fans Before Choosing New Job?

The Movie God   |

By now you all know the drama that went down between NBC and The Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien recently, and how the host was pretty much run out of town so that former host Jay Leno could reclaim his throne.

After NBC and Conan reached an agreed upon settlement, part of the deal was that O’Brien would have to wait until Fall before reaching a deal with another network. Many fans wept as the thought of being without the funniest man of the many late night talk show hosts for such an extended period of time, but now comes word that we may just not have to wait that long.

HitFix is reporting that in order to stay fresh and in order to try and give back to his faithful plans, O’Brien is currently pondering the option to go on tour, visiting many U.S. venues and college campuses, and also possibly a run in Europe before he decides which network he wants to sign a contract with. And even though NBC now owns all of the genius Conan came up with over the years, it would still be pretty awesome so go check him out live somewhere near you. [...]

Geek Discussion: What If Filmmaker Michael Moore Ran For President?

The Movie God   |

This post is simply for the purposes of fun hypothetical discussions.

Truth Out wrote a piece recently talking about why controversial documentary filmmaker Michael Moore should run for President of the United States. Now, I don’t know if this is some kind of random joke post, but it sounds like author is being pretty serious and he even makes multiple points as to not only why Moore should run, but how he could actually WIN. Yikes.

Obviously this is just crazy to think about. After Bowling for Columbine came out, Moore was the top dog in the world of documentaries, but it did not take long before he was attacking the world of politics with a vengeance. Some praised his strong stance and determination to get things changed in Washington, while others were turned off by his loud and aggressive tactics. And when many reports — such as this one — seemed to point out Moore’s apparent hypocritical words and actions as well as his sneaky methods of editing his films to create situations that didn’t actually take place, trust became a major issue. Your Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It: Make Betty White An SNL Host!

The Movie God   |

Another movement has begun, and it is a matter of life and death, people.

The fans have decided that Betty White, star of The Golden Girls and universally awesome grandmother to us all, needs to be allowed to host Saturday Night Live. The movement started on Facebook, where almost 200,000 fans have joined the Betty White to Host SNL page in an attempt to grab the attention of executives at NBC,and persuade them to bring her in immediately.

SNL still has a faithful fan-base, but has not been getting laughs like they used to. It could be the writers; it could be the current cast, but for some reason, that strong level of funny has been completely M.I.A. The studio hasn’t had the most support lately, either; after the Conan O’Brien/Tonight Show fiasco, this would also be a chance for them to win some fans back. Does this really require any amount of thought, NBC!? [...]

Video: How ‘Avatar’ Should Have Ended

Empress Eve   |

Periodically, the fine folks over at How It Should Have Ended take some of our favorite movies and within a few minutes, show us the humorous animated version of how that movie should have ended.

Well, ever since Avatar’s release, I have been waiting for the HISHE gang to give us their alternate ending. And finally, it’s here!

Watch the video here below, where they bring up a good point about how Jake made a major blunder in his mission [...]

Geek Gear: What Would John Locke Do? ‘LOST’ T-Shirt

The Movie God   |

The folks over at TeeFury have an interesting way of doing things. For those of you who are not aware of them, they have one unique t-shirt each and every day. This shirt goes up for sale at midnight on the button for the universal price of $9, and at midnight 24-hours later (or when it is sold out), it disappears into a vortex and is never ever seen again…EVER.

Today’s design comes from the world of ABC’s LOST, which is set to begin their sixth and final season this Tuesday night. The shirt takes one of TV’s more popular (and mysterious) characters, John Locke (Terry O’Quinn), and begs the question “What Would John Locke Do?” and leaves us to ponder quietly.

Keep in mind that this one day is the only chance you’ll ever have to acquire this shirt and show it off to jealous friends. This is a depressing thing for some people; there is no doubt that many with empty pockets have ventured to the site and saw something magical like this that slips their grasp and becomes a dream. Video Humor: Star Wars vs. Star Trek

Star Wars vs. Star Trek.

It’s a battle that’s been waging amongst fanboys for decades — Which insanely popular scifi franchise is better: Star Wars or Star Trek?

Make This Happen! Tilda Swinton Says She Would Gladly Play Conan O’Brien

The Movie God   |

Now that all of that NBC drama with Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno, and The Tonight Show is finally over, everyone can begin to move on. This doesn’t mean that fun can’t still be had, and what better way to keep Conan around for as long as possible than allowing bits of his show to spill over into real life?

Over his many years at NBC, Conan has compared his own physical appearance to other people and things…typically women such as President of Finland Tarja Halonen and distinguished Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton. In fact, O’Brien ended his show with a little note that if HBO ever decides to make a movie based on his life, he’d want Swinton to play him.

While promoting her new movie I Am Love at the Sundance Film Festival, Movieline got right on this and made sure to ask the actress if she would take on this career-making role, to which she playfully accepted with glee. [...]

Come Again? Jennifer Lopez Thinks She Deserved Oscar Nomination For ‘El Cantante’

The Movie God   |

While this is not really news, it is without doubt a wholly amusing story to read. And considering it’s the weekend and slow enough on the web, why not read a quote that’ll make you chuckle, aye?

Jennifer Lopez, star of Selena, Maid in Manhattan, and Gigli, felt that her role in El Cantante should have at least nabbed her an Academy Award nomination, if not an actual win. El Cantante of course is the 2006 film in which she starred opposite of her husband Marc Antony. The movie is through the perspective of his wife Puchi (Lopez) and tells the story of Héctor Lavoe (Antony) and his arrival in America from Puerto Rico in the ’60s before rising to become one of the great Salsa singers of our time. It’s very much like Scarface, but with Salsa melodies instead of blow — though that all came with the fame as well.

While speaking to Latina Magazine, this is what Lopez had to say. [...]

A Little ‘Fifth Element’ Spoof ‘Futurama’ Style For Your Viewing Pleasure

The Movie God   |

What’s the greatest thing in the world during the holiday season time period when absolutely no exciting news is being reported? Well, a super-duper new fan made piece of art work in which some of the beloved and soon-to-be-returning characters of the ultra-popular animated series Futurama are used in a spoof of the also-popular science fiction film, The Fifth Element…naturally!

The image takes the lead Bruce Willis character and replaces him with Philip J. Fry; the Milla Jovovich character and replaces her with Amy Wong; and the Chris Tucker character is replaced by Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Lesser bits of the movie like the singing blue chick are replaced by Leela…and yes, Bender does make a cameo.

Click on over to the other side to check out the image; click to go big, big, big.

I’m personally not the biggest fan of The Fifth Element, but I will say, as a massive Futurama fan, I surely would watch it more if they remade it using these characters. Let’s get on that; if Family Guy can do it with Star Wars, Futurama should be able to do it too. [...]

Video: How ‘The Wizard of Oz’ Should Have Ended

Empress Eve   |

The gang over at How It Should Have Ended strikes again, this time targeting the beloved classic The Wizard of Oz.

In the original 1939 film, Kansas girl Dorothy is transported along with her little dog Toto to Munchkinland in the magical land of Oz. After being threatened by the Wicked Witch of the West, the good witch Glinda sets Dorothy off on a journey to follow the Yellow Brick Road to Emerald City to meet the Wizard who will help get the lost girl home.

As we know, Dorothy meets new friends on her arduous journey, but also is in constant danger from the Wicked Witch. As the How Should Have Ended guys point out, it’s a lot for Dorothy to go through and the motives of the “good characters” are somewhat questionable.

Watch the two-minute animated video here below of how The Wizard of Oz should have ended [...]

Video Mash-Up: Pixar’s: Gran Up Torino

Empress Eve   |

The folks over at Funny or Die have managed once again to create the perfect video mash-up.

This time around it’s of two of this year’s best films: Pixar’s Up with the Clint Eastwood film Gran Torino. You might not think an animated kids movie could successfully be meshed with an R-rated violent film, but after watching this video, you’ll be surprised at how similar the two movies are.

Both movies center on curmudgeonly widowers whose neighborhood has changed around them; both leading gravely voiced old men turn to violence when things get out of hand and both men take on young proteges. Neither of them like anyone on their lawn.

Unlike many of Funny or Die’s mash-ups, this one is not so funny per se, given the intense storyline used — the dialogue of Gran Torino set to the scenes from Up. But, it is majorly clever and worth watching.

Check out the video here below [...]

Jason Segel Performs ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ Dracula Song

The Movie God   |

If you’ve seen the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, then you know the fantastic scene where star Jason Segel performs his song “Dracula’s Lament” in a bar in Hawaii. He also performs a big budget presentation of it later in the film. While appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson recently, Segel actually performed the same song with a Dracula puppet in (or on) hand. If you’re a fan of the movie and this oddly catchy tune, you will definitely want to check this out.

Around the time that Sarah Marshall was on the way, we discovered that Segel and friend and writer Nick Stoller would be writing, directing, and starring in The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made for Walt Disney Studios. This is obviously exciting because it’s new Muppets, but also because we can see here that Segel is good with them!

Click on over to other side to watch the video, and if you haven’t seen it, it helps to go to YouTube or rent the movie first and check out the original performances to get a feel for this seriously silly song. [...]

Video: How ‘Twilight’ Should Have Ended

Empress Eve   |

Everyone knows about the hilarious folks over at How It Should Have Ended, where they take the endings of popular movies and make a cartoon of what it should have been, right? They always point out the absurdities in those movies we love, which makes their endings oh so enjoyable.

They’ve done alternate endings for Superman Returns, The Matrix, and Tranformers. Now, they’ve released one for the ultra-popular teen vampire flick Twilight, which you can watch here below.

I think even the most sensitive Twihards will just have to laugh at what HISHE came up with. Oh, and there’s a post end-title cameo from another well-known vampire, so check it out [...]

‘Twilight’ Fans Receive Much-Needed Intervention At Special ‘New Moon’ Screening

The Movie God   |

No, this is not news. What it is, is one of the funniest damn things seen in a long, long while.

Here’s the setup: comedian Skyler Stone came to the realization that this whole Twilight thing was getting a wee bit out of hand. He decided that it was time to act, and began planning a necessary intervention for a group of fans of the franchise, all documented via video for the website Funny or Die. Stone set up a super-duper-special premiere of the new movie The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which had a packed house in no time whatsoever. The multitudes of beaming fans were recorded expressing their indescribable joy (some on a questionable level), and before long, they were seated and ready for showtime. This is when Mr. Stone comes out and breaks the bad news before attempting to talk some sense into the crowd. Sadly, none of it seems to sink in very well, but the effort is much appreciated. [...]

The Boondock Saints Realize The Sins Of ‘Twilight’ & Take Out Robert Pattinson In True Saints Fashion

The Movie God   |

OK, I’ll admit it: this isn’t really news. But in a world where Twilight is everywhere you look and read, stuff like this is needed to keep everyone (me, me!) sane.

Basically, our favorite sibling assassins with hearts of gold, the Boondock Saints (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus), stopped by MTV recently to talk about their long-awaited sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. While there, they were prompted to take part in a small Big Buck Safari challenge. If you do not know what Big Buck Safari games are, if you’ve ever been in an arcade, you’d recognize them as a hunting simulation in which you hold an orange plastic gun and try and hunt for the best deer.

This isn’t the amusing part of the day, though: before leaving, the Saints made sure that they set their superior status in stone by taking a stand-up of The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Robert Pattinson and giving it the true McManus brothers treatment for those who have sinned against mankind; that’s right, two shots to the back of the head. All we need now is some audio of them saying their prayer beforehand and some pennies for the eyes and all would be well in the world. [...]

‘Star Wars’ Themed ‘Today Show’ Turns Ugly When Drunken Ewoks Take Over

The Movie God   |

We’ve all seen it before, whether it be on purpose or while flipping thorough channels: a daytime TV show has a holiday special where they present fun and helpful tips on decorative ideas, crafty party/hosting tricks, and unique food and snack recipes.

The Today Show held one of these special shows recently (which you can see much more of in our recent post) for Halloween, and they went all out, complete with a full Star Wars theme. Hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry dressed up as Han Solo and Darth Vader, and they even brought in a couple of little Ewoks to set the perfect mood! Unfortunately, this backfired on them a little; it didn’t take long before the Ewoks took over the show. It starts off light with a little playful talking, food throwing, and stealing the Halloween cocktails, but the more reactions they got, the more they feed off of it, and that prompts them to start dancing and moonwalking, fighting each other, and humping Mr. Roker’s leg. Yes, you read that right: an Ewok humps Al Roker’s leg. [...]
