The Boondock Saints Realize The Sins Of ‘Twilight’ & Take Out Robert Pattinson In True Saints Fashion
OK, I’ll admit it: this isn’t really news. But in a world where Twilight is everywhere you look and read, stuff like this is needed to keep everyone (me, me!) sane.
Basically, our favorite sibling assassins with hearts of gold, the Boondock Saints (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus), stopped by MTV recently to talk about their long-awaited sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. While there, they were prompted to take part in a small Big Buck Safari challenge. If you do not know what Big Buck Safari games are, if you’ve ever been in an arcade, you’d recognize them as a hunting simulation in which you hold an orange plastic gun and try and hunt for the best deer.
This isn’t the amusing part of the day, though: before leaving, the Saints made sure that they set their superior status in stone by taking a stand-up of The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Robert Pattinson and giving it the true McManus brothers treatment for those who have sinned against mankind; that’s right, two shots to the back of the head. All we need now is some audio of them saying their prayer beforehand and some pennies for the eyes and all would be well in the world. [...]

‘Star Wars’ Themed ‘Today Show’ Turns Ugly When Drunken Ewoks Take Over
We’ve all seen it before, whether it be on purpose or while flipping thorough channels: a daytime TV show has a holiday special where they present fun and helpful tips on decorative ideas, crafty party/hosting tricks, and unique food and snack recipes.
The Today Show held one of these special shows recently (which you can see much more of in our recent post) for Halloween, and they went all out, complete with a full Star Wars theme. Hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry dressed up as Han Solo and Darth Vader, and they even brought in a couple of little Ewoks to set the perfect mood! Unfortunately, this backfired on them a little; it didn’t take long before the Ewoks took over the show. It starts off light with a little playful talking, food throwing, and stealing the Halloween cocktails, but the more reactions they got, the more they feed off of it, and that prompts them to start dancing and moonwalking, fighting each other, and humping Mr. Roker’s leg. Yes, you read that right: an Ewok humps Al Roker’s leg. [...]

The Geeks Of Doom Guide To Geeky Halloween Costumes
We at Geeks of Doom love Halloween. The smell in the air, the leaves changing color to mark the occasion, and all of the old edited horror movies playing over and over on your TV make it one of the most entertaining and exciting times of year.
Back in 2006, we compiled a list of some of the best geek costumes on the market for those of you who do not yet have an idea as to what you want to be. It’s already been three years now, so we thought it was about time to compile another epic list of costume options for the undecided (which includes myself).
While checking these costumes out, keep some things in mind — most importantly: pretty much every costume that you see will have multiple styles of varying price and quality. The majority of the ones we have here are in the $30-$50 range, but you can find really high-quality “Deluxe” versions of the costume that will run you in the $100-$200 dollar range. These are for the folks who have money to spare and love authenticity. If you’re out of your freakin’ mind, there’s even Batman and Darth Vader costumes that will run you $700+ dollars. If you don’t like the one we’ve linked to, just search the character and check out all of the others that exist. Most costumes have children’s versions available, too. We’ve included some great kids’ costumes, but if you find an adult one you’d like for the little ones, just search it out! [...]

Presenting The Sirius XM Radio Monty Python Channel
Yes, that’s right, Sirius XM Radio will be starting a brand new channel on Friday, and it will be 100% fully dedicated to the many works of Monty Python. The channel will start the day after the five remaining members — John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin — are in New York to receive their Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television award from BAFTA (Read: Monty Python’s Flying Circus Officially Turns 40).
The new channel is being put on the air for the comedy troupe’s 40th anniversary celebration, and it will feature 24-hour a day Python songs and clips from their many different skits and popular movies. Members of the gang will show up from time-to-time to reflect on their many classic contributions to comedic history, and some of the clips and songs aired will be introduced by different celebrity fans.
Sadly, good things never last forever, and fans of Monty Python will have to get their fill. The Monty Python channel will only be available for a depressingly short 10-day period. [...]

Must Own: The Famed ‘Star Wars’ Tauntaun Sleeping Bag Is Now A Reality!
Once upon a time, someone somewhere created a sleeping bag re-creation of the Tauntaun corpse that Luke Skywalker used for warmth in that classic scene from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. This someone was greatest online store ever created (proclaimed by I, anyway), ThinkGeek, and it was actually just a little April Fools silliness. Well, the gag was so popular, that people were called, papers were rustled, and ThinkGeek was given permission by George Lucas and Lucas Films to actually produce the sleeping bag, and you…yes, YOU can go and own one soon.
The sleeping bag (seen above, click to go large) is made of a nice, soft Tauntaun fur, and the inside is over-flowing with the natural comfort of intestinal embrace. Better yet (and my personal favorite touch) is the inclusion of a little lightsaber zipper, that allows you to cut open your desperate escape from the freezing cold winter every single time you use it! Monty Python’s Flying Circus Officially Turns 40
The legendary comedy troupe Monty Python had a little show called Monty Python’s Flying Circus that began in 1969, which made Monday their 40th birthday. The group is composed of gods of the comedic realms John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and of course, Graham Chapman, who passed away in 1989.
All five of the remaining members are gearing up for one of their rare gatherings on October 15, when they will head to New York City and receive an award for Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Celebrations for the event were underway back in July when it was announced that four of the six members would be reuniting for a new show based on Life of Brian called Not The Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy) (Read: Monty Python To Reunite For Their 40th Anniversary; Documentary To Follow). Palin, Idle, Gilliam, and Jones are will appear in the special event, while Cleese was unable to commit due to a conflicting schedule. [...]

Is Luke Skywalker Your Jesus? A Look At Some ‘Star Wars’ Religious Artwork
For many, Star Wars and its entire mythology may be considered a religion in itself. But what if Star Wars WAS actually a religion all this time, and many classic works of art had been created in celebration of it? As we all know, there are many easily recognizable works of religious art — most notably of them, of course, is The Last Supper. So who of us in the world of geekdom could resist the image of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, R2-D2, George Lucas, and many others sitting at that legendary one-sided table for a little womp rat feast?
In all, there are twenty images of parody. Along with the Last Supper images, you can also see things like Yoda as the Pope, Storm Trooper stained glass art, and Princess Leia as Mary, holding an infant Yoda. There’s a couple using newer characters from the movies we do not speak of, but they’re pretty cool as well. [...]

Monty Python To Reunite For Their 40th Anniversary; Documentary To Follow
The boys of legendary comedy troupe Monty Python rarely get together anymore. Reunions have been rumored many times, but in the past ten-plus years, the group has only gathered together two times: once for a group interview in 1998, and a second time in 2002 for the George Harrison memorial.
Now The Independent is reporting that of the six-man group, four will reunite for a live stage show based on their very own Life of Brian called Not The Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy). Python members Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Terry Gilliam will appear in the show, while John Cleese can’t make it due to a scheduling conflict and of course Graham Chapman passed away in 1989.
The show, which will reference many classic sketches, stars Eric Idle, who also wrote it with John Du Prez. The rest of the Monty Python guys — including another Flying Circus regular Carol Cleveland with Neil Innes — will make appearances within the production. [...]

Geek Humor: LOL Speak Added To New ‘Star Trek’
There have been comparisons all over the Twitterverse this morning of the new Star Trek cast and a litter of cute newborn kittens. This of course is reaffirmed by adding LOL-speak to stills of the new movie, as done by Lolodeck. Right now there aren’t that many up but of the shots they have posted, they are worth of a click through.
Personally, I couldn’t wait for more so I made one of my own (scroll down) using Google Image Search, Griffin’s FAIL Maker App for the iPhone and a lolcat speak translator (found here).
If you feel the urge to do the same, post the links in the comment section below…(puleez?) [...]

Those funny dudes over at Motion Picture Comics have a new movie parody comic strip series — this one, poking fun at the new JJ Abrams Star Trek film.
Three strips are already up on the site, which has previously parodied such blockbusters as Watchmen and Spider-Man 3, and there’s reportedly more to come this week. So be sure to check ‘em out! [...]

Video: Original ‘Star Trek’ With Lens Flare
Before the new Star Trek was released in theaters this past weekend, the trailers and clips from the film showed that director JJ Abrams went a bit wild with the lens flare. Yes, it was quite excessive. I think it stands out as the number one non-plot related issue that people have with the film.
Luckily, it didn’t bother me much at the time, since I was really enjoying the movie. But, what if the original Star Trek television series was bombarded with lens flare? Well, here’s your chance to find out. Check out the short video here below where one clever fan added them to the Khan episode “Space Seed.” [...]

Video Humor: ‘Star Trek’ Stars Defend New Movie On SNL’s Weekend Update
The young stars of the new Star Trek film, which opened in theaters this weekend, made an appearance last night on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update.
Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine — the new respective Spock and Kirk — joined a segment of Weekend Update to defend the new movie and themselves against angry “Trekkies” offended by the film’s advertising, which touts “This is not your father’s Star Trek.”
Check out the video of this humorous segment here below and be sure to watch it all the way through, as another star of the film makes a very special appearance you won’t want to miss [...]
