Director Breck Eisner sat down to answer some questions about his latest film The Crazies, which tells the story of what happens to a small Iowa town that is suddenly turned to anarchy and death after a mysterious toxin contaminates the water supply.

We asked him about George Romero, the film's political message, and why it isn't a zombie flick.

Horror fans should note: if this film isn't on your radar, the Q&A after the jump may convince you to head down to the theater for a viewing.

Geeks of Doom: Are you a fan of George Romero and how (if at all) did his previous films influence how you did The Crazies?

Breck Eisner: Of course I'm a big fan of Romero. As a kid I watched a lot of movies. before I knew anything about making movies I just knew that I liked watching his. The Crazies I had seen when a friend had brought over a beta max tape when I was 15 and we watched this bizarre movie (called The Crazies) [...]

After a two-week hiatus due to Winter Olympics coverage, NBC's Chuck returned tonight for the second half of season three, which shows no signs of slowing down.

While the preview (embedded below) shows Chuck (Zach Levi) possibly getting busy with fellow Nerd Hearder Hannah (Kristin Kreuk), Casey (Adam Baldwin) losing a tooth, a tiger, and tons of kung fu action, stars Zach Levi and Josh Gomez were gracious enough to sit down for a press conference call to discuss even more about what to expect in the episodes ahead.

Levi will pull double duty as both actor and director for "Chuck vs the Beard" airing March 8, which sees Chuck being taken off active duty after having problems trying to use the Intersect. The episode is said to have the entire cast involved and could have major repercussion on future story lines.

"I had reservations about it until it was signed off by the powers that be," Levi said. "I can't believe they let me do this episode." [...]

With hopes of seeing the first of the new 26-episode season order by this Summer, it's getting around the time when we begin itching for some kind of teaser trailer or anything like that, but nothing has been released yet.

To hold us over, Newsarama was able to have a little chat with Futurama's own Phil LaMarr, who spoke about how things are going and when we might see the new episodes.
Some new goodies have been released from Tron: Legacy, The Walt Disney Company's much-anticipated sequel to their 1982 classic, Tron.

Said goodies include a shiny new publicity image that has been released, and in an interview with MTV, director Joseph Kosinski shared some new details on the characters in the movie, whether the film will play in IMAX, and if this is the beginning of a brand new franchise.

Tron: Legacy is still almost a year away from its December 2010 release, but they're certainly staying in the public eye and maintaining attention so far. We shall see how that all holds up over the next ten months or so!

The image above was release a while back, but is still fun to check out if you have not seen it. Click on over to the other side to see the brand new publicity image and read some quotes from Kosinski.

The only real story details that the director offered were in regard to Jeff Bridges' characters, which of course are his same characters from the original film. Only this time, the computerized version of him will be a little more intelligent. [...]

Bill Paxton has done a lot of work with James Cameron (The Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, Titanic), and because of this past, he's very happy to see Cameron's Avatar doing so well at the box office. The movie that had people nervous with its rumored record-breaking budget has made $380 million domestically and $757 million overseas, and was custom built for the new 3D technology that has swarmed theaters as of late. This three-dimensional revolution has caught the eye of Paxton, and it has his brain churning about the prospect of actually doing a sequel to his hit 1996 disaster film Twister using the format.

While doing an interview for his HBO show Big Love, Paxton was asked about his upcoming projects. Paxton went on to reveal his new found desire to revisit the world of storm chasing, and that he had already met with mega producer Kathleen Kennedy about the idea. He explained that he had recently gone on a trip to the Ozarks with friend and Twister colleague Scott Thomson, and that they followed the trail of one of the biggest tornadoes ever to touch down.
Thinking back on the level of excitement that people had for the promise of a live-action movie based on Ghost Rider will submerge you in a sudden depression knowing now what we do about how that film turned out. And it is with that depression drowning us that difficulties arise in finding any level of excitement for the proposed Ghost Rider 2 sequel that looks to be on the way.

For those of you few who do maintain a desire to see Ghost Rider 2 happen soon, there are now a bunch of new updates to behold. Collider recently spoke to producer Mike De Luca who had a handful of information for us, including what looks like it may become the official title: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

The biggest of these news bits starts with directing: when asked about whether or not original director Mark Steven Johnson would come back, De Luca was replied that Johnson will not be returning to do the sequel and that a new director would be behind the camera. He even went as far as saying that David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Unborn) may be a possible candidate for director. [...]

We've been hearing things like this for a while now, so it is a little difficult to embrace this quote with open arms, but nonetheless: Ghostbusters writer and original star Harold Ramis sat down and had a little chat with Heeb, where he discuss everything from Animal House to Groundhog Day to the status of a one Ghostbusters 3.

If you watch any television at all, then you've surely seen the trailer for James McTeigue's (V for Vendetta) newest film Ninja Assassin about 45 times. After that film has come and gone, McTeigue already has his next project lined up and it will be a fictional story based on the life and works of author Edgar Allan Poe.

What we've learned so far is that the movie is called The Raven, and it tells the story of Poe being challenged by a serial killer to solve the murders that are based on his very own works. Most comparisons are to the movie Se7en, but in Poe's dark and cold 1800s setting. We also know that the movie takes place in Poe's final days, before his mysterious death at the early age of 40. The movie is written by Hannah Shakespeare and Ben Livingston.

Now comes some new information on the project from the mouth of McTeigue, who spoke to SciFi Wire recently, including what Edgar Allan Poe stories were looked to for inspiration (and likely many gruesome Poe-esque murders) in the movie, and where the casting path is leading toward.
Some reports have been making their way around the internet today that actor and director Edward James Olmos has been talking about the possibility of more Battlestar Galactica stories coming if his new prequel movie, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan does really well tomorrow on DVD (stay tuned for our review soon!).

To be fair, if you'll recall, Olmos appeared on Attack of the Show! back at the beginning of August (Read: Could Big Numbers For ‘The Plan’ Mean More ‘Battlestar Galactica’?) and made this same announcement, so it's not really news. What is new in all of this, is how many more DVDs he is now saying need to be sold (a LOT more) in order to get more BSG and some information what stories we might be able to see exactly.

While talking to Collider, Olmos upped the number that Universal Studios told him need to be sold from the original 350,000-500,000 he told Attack of the Show! to a whopping 5 Million! You could be assume that this is an overall numerical accomplishment and not just the movie's release date numbers he first mentioned. There's no doubt that the fans are faithful enough to pull it off, either, so we can all hope. [...]

In a recent interview with GameDaily, Hollywood producer Adrian Askarieh talked video game movies in great detail. On the list, he spoke on big projects like Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, Hitman 2, and Just Cause -- all of which have movies in the works.

From the very second that a Kane & Lynch movie was announced, superstar Bruce Willis was rumored to be up for one of the starring roles. It's been a long time since these rumors started swirling, but staying nice and chaos free, Askarieh confirmed in this interview that Willis is indeed attached and confirmed for the movie, and that he will be playing Kane (the one on the left) of the duo.

He also confirmed that the movie will be directed by Simon Crane, who is mostly known for his stunt work, but who has also done a lot of Second Unit Directing and Assistant Directing. It will finally begin production in March of 2010, which is still a long ways off, but considering this thing has been coming for years now, it's good to have an actual date. Lionsgate will be handling the distribution, and Millennium is financing it. [...]

If you're into entertaining podcasts and great interviews, then you need look no further than Movie Geeks United on BlogTalkRadio. One of their popular offerings is called the "Director Series" where they focus on some of the greatest directors ever to exist, their careers, and their lives. One of the recent interviews that they did is for their show will look at perhaps the most controversial director we know: Roman Polanski.

As you all know, Polanski was recently arrested in connection to infamous 1977 case which convicted him of having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Because of these stunning developments, the interview -- which was conducted hours before news of Polanski's arrest was reported -- looks to contain some very interesting information, and perhaps some new layers to the chaos.

Hosts Jamey DuVall and Geeks of Doom's own Jerry Dennis spoke to a multitude of people, including Brett Ratner (Rush Hour); Bobbie O’Steen, the wife of Roman’s late editor, Sam O’Steen (Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby, Frantic); cinematographer William A. Fraker (Rosemary’s Baby); and critic Keith Uhlich. They will also refer back to a 2008 interview that they had with Marina Zenovich, director of the documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired. [...]

A couple of weeks back I was able to talk with Robert Venditti, author of The Surrogates comic book series, as well as its follow up, Surrogates: Flesh and Bone. We were able to talk about not just his books, but also the film adaptation released this weekend starring Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames. Here’s what he had to say.

Geeks of Doom: What was the genesis of The Surrogates?

Robert Venditti: When I was in grad school at the University of Central Florida, I was in a class called the Literature of the Internet, we read a book called The Cyber Gypsies, which was a non fiction book a guy had written about people addicted to the internet, mostly through online gaming, and people would create these personas for themselves, and they would so identify with those personas, they would lose their jobs or get divorced because they would spend so much time maintaining that persona in the computer. So that was an idea that stuck with me, the sort of basic need we all seem to have to be something other than who we are, and that kicked around in my head for a year or two. And then I started to see a lot of shows on TV about people getting radical plastic surgery, like Extreme Makeover, Dr. 90210, and then that idea melded with the idea from the Cyber Gypsies and made me think about what would happen if we take the world now, where you create this persona for yourself on the internet, what if the technology existed where you can create this persona and that could go out into the world and live your life in your place. And that was where the whole idea started [...]

Geeks of Doom has had the honor of interviewing some of the great cast members of Troy Duffy's desperately-anticipated sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. First up was the wonderful Clifton Collins Jr., who's new to the gang in the sequel. And now, I'm pleased to present our own little chat with the best two good guy killers ever seen in a movie -- the Boondock Saints: Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus!

Whether you're a super-fan of the original 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints or not, you've very likely seen both of these gentleman in numerous other movies and TV shows. Sean has appeared in movies like Powder and Suicide Kings, and he even rocked the fedora and whip as Indiana Jones in Young Indiana Jones. Norman will soon be seen in Pandorum, and is also known from his roles in movies like Deuces Wild, Blade II, and Ridley Scott's American Gangster with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.

You can stay up to date with both of these fine actors by following them on Twitter, or by going to their official websites for all the information you need on all of the past, current, and future projects discussed in this interview. [...]

As you may have noticed, our video team on the scene (I just made that up -- gold star for me), Doug E. Karate and Rob E. Danger did a fantastic job of finding interesting things and people at Dragon*Con '09 and showcasing them for all who didn't attend to see.

This time around we have three pretty epic videos for you to enjoy -- two interviews, and even an in-depth lesson in the Gothic culture. The first chat is with a woman talks about how she fell in love with The Green Lantern while watching the cartoons in Spanish growing up, and who even attended the convention dressed as a Lantern herself. Next up, you'll meet a real, live inventor who brought along one of his creations. I can't honestly tell you what it is or what it does, but it does throws a bunch of random phrases at you. The contraption is rather big and hangs around our new friend's neck as he strolls. It actually kind of looks like an '80s computer and a calculator had a romantic romp inside Jeff Goldblum's The Fly machine, and then was teleported via the ship from Galaxy Quest, resulting in some form of inside-out electronic device.
Dragon*Con 2009 has come and gone now, but the goodies may just never stop. We really spoil you kids.

Today comes another harvest of mini-interviews composed of course by Doug and Rob, and featuring some more of the convention's best in show. As we all know, conventions like this one are mass gathering points for those who simply love to dress up as their most-favoritest of geeky characters and walk the floors proudly. So who better to have a little chat with, I ask thee? No one, that's who!

In this installment, we'll meet two interesting folks. First up is Loxida Delude, the fittingly geek-named hairdresser from Tennessee who's all dolled up as a Night Elf Druid. She'll share her convention experience and her gaming vices us. Next up will be a young man who is attending the convention with his mother and father, and claims to be dressed as a character from the game Kingdom Hearts 2, though I kind of think he's a closet Twilighter and actually dressed up as Robert Pattinson. That hair puts wild to shame [...]
