Sixth & Final Season Of ‘Lost’ Has An Official Launching Date

The Movie God   |

ABC has officially announced that its ultimate milk and honey show, Lost, will begin its final season on February 2, 2010. The station will attempt to make an event out of the evening by airing one of their hour-long recap episodes right before the two-hour Lost premiere airs. The final season is set to air 18 episodes, with the premiere and likely two-hour finale counting as four of the total episodes. There have been talks of the show possibly taking a short break when the upcoming Winter Olympics take place, but that is still unknown for sure.

The sixth season has the ultimate of challenges ahead of it. The show has consistently delivered some of the best writing and most compelling television in the history of the medium, but with so many questions left to answer, the task at hand is for them to remain as flawless as they’ve been while still answering most of the mysteries that remain. And with one of the mysteries being the random “sightings” of deceased characters, expect to see many familiar faces within the final run. [...]

Second & Third New ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Posters Released

The Movie God   |

Recently we were treated by the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) himself to a brand new poster for Alice in Wonderland via his Disloyal Subjects of the Mad Hatter Facebook page. He promised that with 7,500 likes, he would release a second “treat,” which he did, and then promised a the third treat would come after 9,000 more likes. These final two posters have now been released and you can check them out right here. They didn’t exactly reach 9,000 to unlock the final poster, but as we said in the first post, the “likes” didn’t likely matter much, and these were being put out no matter what.

One of the posters features Alice and the White Rabbit at one of the Hatter’s lovely tea parties, while the other features the Hatter and the Caterpillar with a suspiciously familiar castle on the horizon. Looks just a little bit like the iconic Walt Disney castle, does it not?

New Poster For Tim Burton’s ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Released

The Movie God   |

In case you’re not already aware — a special Facebook page has been created by the marketing team behind Tim Burton’s 3-D new vision of Alice in Wonderland. The page is called The Disloyal Subjects of the Mad Hatter and it’s a place for fans read and see new bits of fun from the movie as they are released and described by the Hatter (Johnny Depp) himself.

As per his own description, the Hatter has three new things that he will be releasing, but as you can see, they will not all be released with each other. The first of the three that is now out to see is a brand new poster for the film. It features the White Queen (Anne Hathaway) book-ended by Tweedledee and Tweedledum (Matt Lucas), and standing opposite of the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) with the giant head of the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry) floating in the sky. Very Basic Teaser Poster For ‘Scream 4′ Released

The Movie God   |

The Weinstein Company is incredibly giddy that their juggernaut Scream franchise is being revived for a new trilogy. Scream 4 is just gaining some good speed with a script in the works from Kevin Williamson and some of the core cast members locked in to return. This hasn’t stopped the Weinsteins from trying to get all of us giddy-ized (word invented — stamp it!) right along with them, though; the company has created an ultra-basic new teaser poster to check out (Click to go big). All the poster is a our first face-to-face with the infamous Ghostface, and a tiny little promise of some new rules being thrown into the chaos.

As you may or may not know, this is a project that the Weinsteins have been begging Williamson for for a long time now. He finally broke down and got to work developing it as a whole new trilogy. Stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox were pretty much instantly-confirmed for the return, but there was a little drama when it looked like their lead, Neve Campbell, would not be coming back. This, however, did not last long, as it was later confirmed that she too was returning for the ride. The one huge missing link still, is whether Wes Craven will return to direct. [...]

The Boondock Saints Realize The Sins Of ‘Twilight’ & Take Out Robert Pattinson In True Saints Fashion

The Movie God   |

OK, I’ll admit it: this isn’t really news. But in a world where Twilight is everywhere you look and read, stuff like this is needed to keep everyone (me, me!) sane.

Basically, our favorite sibling assassins with hearts of gold, the Boondock Saints (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus), stopped by MTV recently to talk about their long-awaited sequel, Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. While there, they were prompted to take part in a small Big Buck Safari challenge. If you do not know what Big Buck Safari games are, if you’ve ever been in an arcade, you’d recognize them as a hunting simulation in which you hold an orange plastic gun and try and hunt for the best deer.

This isn’t the amusing part of the day, though: before leaving, the Saints made sure that they set their superior status in stone by taking a stand-up of The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Robert Pattinson and giving it the true McManus brothers treatment for those who have sinned against mankind; that’s right, two shots to the back of the head. All we need now is some audio of them saying their prayer beforehand and some pennies for the eyes and all would be well in the world. [...]

First Official Image Of The New ‘A-Team’ Together

The Movie God   |

A short time ago, someone was able to snap a photo of the cast of Joe Carnahan’s (Smokin’ Aces) new TV show adaptation, The A-Team while on the set (Read: Super Geek Peek: New Images From ‘Green Hornet,’ ‘A-Team’ & More!). The image was decent, but it was far away and it looked like they were on break, so it was hard to go nutty over. Now the very first official image of the group together has been released, and you get a really strong idea of how the characters will look and how they’ve modernized some small things.

In the image is Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Wedding Crashers) as Face; former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus; Liam Neeson (Kingdom of Heaven, Taken) as Hannibal; and Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Murdoch.

Click on over to the other side to check out the brand new first image of the gang together, and for comparison’s sake, I’ve included a lovely little photo of the original cast above, so feel free to click and compare away. [...]

‘Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day’ Official Poster, Images & New Trailer!

The Movie God   |

We’re now officially in October and the 30th is only right around the corner. On that day, we will finally get the sequel of the decade: Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, and there’s a buzzing excitement in the air we breathe! To fuel this excitement, Sony has released an official poster, a few new images to peek at, as well as the new Green Band trailer for all to see. The first and only trailer that we saw was of course the Red Band trailer that was released last month, so this new trailer is the first safe for work look at the movie.

The trailer is basically the same as the Red Band offering, but there are differences and there’s definitely some new shots we haven’t seen yet, making it absolutely worth watching in full oogle-eyed fashion. The poster can be seen at the upper-right (click for full size) and it’s the high quality version of the poster that we’ve seen photographed at conventions. [...]

Sneak Peek: Claire & Gretchen’s First Kiss On ‘Heroes’

Empress Eve   |

Anyone still watching Heroes?

If so, it looks like Sweeps week is coming a bit early this Fall for the NBC drama with this Monday’s episode featuring the first kiss between Claire (Hayden Panettiere) and her roommate Gretchen (Dawn Olivieri).

If you’re not watching the show, then head’s up, lesbian kiss this Monday at 8 PM on NBC.

Isn’t the lesbian kiss so 1990’s? I guess girl on girl action never gets old, does it?

Check out here below for a sneak peek of Claire and Gretchen’s first kiss, along with the synopsis for this Monday’s episode “Hysterical Blindness.” [...]

Awesome New Images From ‘Clash Of The Titans’ Including First Look At Liam Neeson As Zeus!

The Movie God   |

Not too long ago, a bunch of new images from some big upcoming movies invaded the inter-webs; one of which was a magazine cover featuring Sam Worthington in the new Clash of the Titans. As it turns out, this cover wasn’t the end of the rainbow — this issue of Empire magazine held many more images from the movie, and they’re pretty fantastic. Entertainment Weekly also has a few new behind the scenes images, which give us our very first look at Liam Neeson as the God of Thunder himself, Zeus! (Shown at right, click to go big)

As for the official images in Empire, they’re really our first glimpse at scenes from the film. You get a good feel of that raw and gritty war tone the movie looks to have, and better yet, you’ll see some of the creatures being featured, and they look very good. You can really see in all of the pictures that director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) wants to deliver this legendary fantasy tale in realistic fashion — especially in the Zeus image. [...]

Super Geek Peek: New Images From ‘Green Hornet,’ ‘A-Team’ & More!

The Movie God   |

A party bag of new images from some big time new movies have been released all over the ‘net today. The images are basically just some sneaky behind the scenes shots of filming, but they’re our very first look at these movies, which makes them pretty exciting. There’s also a news image of Sam Worthington from Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans from Empire, which you can see at right!

The first movie we’re getting our first good look at is The Green Hornet. Splash News has a collection of pictures from filming, and they show writer/producer/star Seth Rogen as the Hornet himself, along with sidekick Kato, played by Jay Chou. As you can tell, they’re being pretty faithful to the look of the characters, so fans should be pretty excited. [...]

New ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Images Set To The Full Soundtrack

The Movie God   |

It’s just about that time: Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are is about to finally be released in theaters on October 16, 2009. It’s been a while since the trailer was released and our excitement was at an all-time high, so right here and now you can listen to the entire movie soundtrack free online. Even better, while listening to the music that shall accompany this beautiful film, you can also check out a bunch of new images from the movie and its production. The soundtrack contains original songs by Karen O And The Kids — Karen O as in the singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

As you all likely know, the movie has endured a battle to get to our eyes, with rumors at one point claiming that the movie had been entirely scrapped and Jonze taken off the job by Warner Brothers because it was too dark and they wanted it more aimed at kids. Thankfully it was decided that the original vision was obviously the best, and things moved forward as planned.

Where the Wild Things Are is based on the novel by Maurice Sendak about a young boy named Max (Max Records) who becomes angry with his mother and travels dangerous seas to mystical lands inhabited by large creatures known as the Wild Things who decide to make Max their king.

Click on over to the other side to listen to the soundtrack and check out the images. The soundtrack was also released yesterday on CD, MP3, and vinyl. May I suggest throwing on the music before enjoying the pictures. Sets the tone quite nicely. Head on over to io9 for more images [...]

Geek Peek: First Image Of Simon Pegg & Nick Frost In ‘Paul’

The Movie God   |

The first official image from the new Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movie Paul has been spotted at Universal Studios, snapped, and sent to Collider. Some images from the set had been seen, but nothing from the actual movie, so for someone visiting Universal to see this giant image hanging outside is a tad odd, but still good for all of us! Click the image at right to see it in full.

Paul is purely a fanboy movie with Pegg and Frost starring as loyal geeks on a road trip to Comic Con who encounter an alien while near Area 51. The movie is directed by Greg Mottola, who is known for his instant comedy classic Superbad, as well as the recent Adventureland.

The movie also stars Seth Rogen as the alien they meet, which will be created using motion capture. It’s also said that the alien will spit a lot of foul language in true Rogen form and that the movie will likely be R-rated. [...]

Geek Cred: President Obama With Lightsaber

Empress Eve   |

One of the greatest joys of having Barack Obama as President of the United States is having a bona fide geek leading the country. The Pres is into comic books and Star Trek, and has even thrown up the Vulcan “live long and prosper” salute. When he was still a US Senator, he had on his website a photo of himself in front of a Superman statue. This is a man after our own hearts.

Now, the geeky Obama strikes again with a recent photo-op on the White House lawn where he’s wielding a toy lightsaber after a fencing demonstration. The event was held yesterday to promote Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympic Games [...]

‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 4′ Gets An Official Title

The Movie God   |

Disney has been making some big announcements lately: their acquisition of Marvel Studios; a partnership with the great Guillermo del Toro; the motion capture remake of Yellow Submarine; and now this, the officially announcement of the title for Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

The fourth movie in one of the biggest movie franchises of all time will now be called Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (click image for full title graphic). The flick is locked and loaded with crucial Johnny Depp set to return as Jack Sparrow. To lower the budget a bit, both Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley will not be returning, unless they appear in small cameos.

Also expected to return is Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, but this is not confirmed yet. The high hopes is that the Fountain of Youth storyline set up at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End will be used here. It also appears that there is a book titled On Stranger Tides that does involve the Fountain, so questions have also arisen as to if this will be the source material for the fourth film. [...]

Guillermo del Toro & Walt Disney Team Up For Scary Animated Adventures!

The Movie God   |

Walt Disney Studios made some big announcements yesterday at their D23 Expo. One of which is the reveal that they have entered into a collaboration with none other than visual genius Guillermo del Toro, and will be launching a special new production label called Double Dare You. The goal for this new label: create a slew of new animated feature films for people of all ages, that are a lot more on the dark and scary side of things. The projects will all be overseen and produced by del Toro — who originally came up with the concept and design of the label — with some even being directed by him personally.

This is fantastic news for fans of animated movies. Guillermo del Toro is the absolute king of visually sensational cinema, and to have his hand and his style going into some darker animated films could be truly wonderful. It would be expected that the movies will have something of a Monster House feel to them. [...]

25 Cosplay Babes of Dragon*Con 2009

Tom Cheredar   |

The plus side to having everyone dress in elaborate costumes for an extended weekend is that it gives the fairer of the genders a reason to adopt the likenesses of their favorite fictional characters — even if that means causing them to go half naked and/or require the application of mass body paint.

Is Luke Skywalker Your Jesus? A Look At Some ‘Star Wars’ Religious Artwork

The Movie God   |

For many, Star Wars and its entire mythology may be considered a religion in itself. But what if Star Wars WAS actually a religion all this time, and many classic works of art had been created in celebration of it? As we all know, there are many easily recognizable works of religious art — most notably of them, of course, is The Last Supper. So who of us in the world of geekdom could resist the image of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan, R2-D2, George Lucas, and many others sitting at that legendary one-sided table for a little womp rat feast?

In all, there are twenty images of parody. Along with the Last Supper images, you can also see things like Yoda as the Pope, Storm Trooper stained glass art, and Princess Leia as Mary, holding an infant Yoda. There’s a couple using newer characters from the movies we do not speak of, but they’re pretty cool as well. [...]

Check That: ‘Rambo 5′ To Incorporate Sci-Fi, NOT Set At Mexican Border

The Movie God   |

Just this past Monday, it was confirmed that a fifth movie in the Rambo franchise was officially given the go-ahead (Read: ‘Rambo 5′ Receives A Not At All Shocking Greenlight). In the Variety report, it was announced that this time, John Rambo would be heading back to the United States, and would be fighting “human traffickers and drug lords” on the Mexican border while trying to rescue a kidnapped little girl. As it turns out, this was about as far from the truth as can be. Ain’t It Cool News‘ Harry Knowles was able to talk to Sylvester Stallone himself, who shared what was really going down at this sure-to-be-messy new party. As it turns out, the movie will actually be introducing a touch of science fiction this time around.

First and foremost, it appears that the movie will be titled Rambo V: The Savage Hunt, as can be seen in the very, very basic poster that was made and can be seen above (click to go big). [...]

Welcome To Hollywood East: A Look At New England’s Plymouth Rock Studios

The Movie God   |

If you’re not familiar with the story, for a long while now, the plan to build a gigantic new movie and TV studio on the East Coast has been fast in motion. The goal was to have this huge facility similar to that of a the legendary Hollywood production studios that would allow the big time film and television producers out there a legitimate option to always shooting out West. It took quite a while to get things lined up, and changes had to be made in the state’s former tax and financial set-up to make it appealing enough, but all hurdles were cleared and the massive project was approved. The development is currently moving right along at its Plymouth, Massachusetts location, and the $500 Million Plymouth Rock Studios is heading straight for a Fall 2010 opening planned.

So what exactly will this brand new high-tech, completely “Green,” eco-friendly LEED studio complex offer to those who set up shop there for big projects? [...]

‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Volturi Portraits & Stills

Empress Eve   |

Five new portrait shots have been released of the Volturi vampires from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, along with three new production stills from the upcoming film.

The portraits are of coven leader Caius (Sweeney Todd’s Jamie Campbell-Bower ), Jane (Dakota Fanning), Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl), Alec (Cameron Bright), and Aro (Underworld’s Michael Sheen). The three new production stills feature one of Jane, one with Cullan clan member Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) with another Volturi vamp Demetri (Charlie Bewley), and one with three Volturi together.

The Volturi coven, based in Italy, is supposed to be the most powerful of vampires in the Twilight universe and they’re seen for the first time in New Moon [...]
