Watch Now: First Official Trailer For Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Kick-Ass’

The Movie God   |

We all should know the story by now: Matthew Vaughn — director of Layer Cake and Stardust — decided that a movie based on Mark Millar’s ultra-violent graphic novel Kick-Ass needed to be made, and brought it to the money. Unfortunately, none of the studios had any interest in making a movie that would include an 11-year-old girl who is deadly surgical with a Katana blade. Instead of giving in, Vaughn went down another path and pulled the unthinkable: he went and got the money all by himself…all $75 Million of it. Since this bold move, Kick-Ass has been growing into a very popular project with many itching to see this “outside-the-box” superhero movie. After some footage at Comic Con was universally praised, the studios that had passed were now battling each other for the very right to distribute the film.

Now, finally, we the regular folk of the world are able to get our first peek at this curious and intriguing little flick with the release of the very first official trailer, and it was surely worth the wait. Kick-Ass promises to be a funny, fully-entertaining movie for adults, and it is fair to assume that it won’t take long to acquire a massive fan-following. [...]

Must Watch: First Official ‘Clash Of The Titans’ Teaser Trailer!

The Movie God   |

For some reason it feels like this is earlier than expected, but without any one complaint from anyone, Yahoo! Movies has been given the honor of sharing with us the very first official teaser trailer for Louis Leterrier’s brand new vision of the 1981 mythological fantasy classic, Clash of the Titans.

The movie follows Perseus (Sam Worthington), a man born from the gods, but who was raised as a regular mortal. He eventually discovers his true pedigree and finds out that Hades (Ralph Fiennes), God of the Underworld, is preparing to forcefully take over his brother Zeus’s (Liam Neeson) power and kingdom so that he can wreak havoc on the heavens and the Earth. Being Zeus’s child and with nothing else to solidify his legacy, Perseus volunteers to lead a mighty band of warriors through the unholiest of lands to fight some of the most evil beings known to man and try and stop Hades and his plans. Game Review: ‘WET’

The Movie God   |

The new game from publisher Bethesda — the brilliant developers of classics like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 — and developer A2M, WET is a game that immediately grabs your eye when you see it. Its look of pure Grindhouse-esq exploitation cinema of the 70s leads you to believe that you’re about to play a Quentin Tarantino movie, and whether you ultimately like the game or not, that alone is worth giving it a fair go.

WET follows Rubi Malone (Eliza Dushku), a bad-ass problem solver who gets what needs to be done, done…so long as the price is right. The game opens with her chasing down a man who steals what she was paid to acquire, which leads to an epic chase right off the gun that ends in a freeway car chase that would bring a tear to the eye of Michael Bay. As it turns out, the item she was paid to retrieve is a human heart that would save the man who hired you’s father. A year later, this man (Malcolm McDowell) comes back to thank her for the heart, and to hire her for another job: to find and bring back his AWOL son. This job sets off a chain of events that are a little too spoilery to share here, but let us just say that Rubi isn’t thrilled about how things go, and many, many, many, many people die because of it. Watch Now: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Full Theatrical Trailer

The Movie God   |

If it’s true that a movie can become so over-hyped that it affects our view of the film, then James Cameron’s massively-pre-praised Avatar is going to have to really be amazing to live up to our expectations. Already we’ve seen many people let down by our first glimpse of the movie in its debut teaser trailer, but now we have a full-length theatrical trailer to watch and really see whether excitement blooms or skepticism rules on. Once again, all of these trailers won’t be able to fully present the IMAX Digital 3-D format the movie is specifically being built for, so you have to imagine it as big as big can be and as personally enveloping as movies can get.

The trailer has a lot of things we’ve seen before, but with an extra minute or so of footage, you’ll certainly see some new goodies. It seems the real concern is still the Na’vi and if you love or hate their look, but overall, imagining in the above-stated IMAX format, you can see how this will without doubt be a dreamscape of never-before-seen visual treats. If the movie hits on all entertainment levels, then we really are looking at an amusement park ride of a movie-going experience. [...]

UPDATED! Jake Gyllenhaal Navigates The First Official ‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

It’s been a long time coming, but the first official movie trailer for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been unveiled by MySpace.

The trailer certainly makes its intents known immediately, and it’s pretty clear that movie-goers are either going to love it or hate it passionately. What really stands out is the visuals, which are without doubt very beautifully done. The big concern lies within the cast, which started the very moment that Jake Gyllenhaal was cast as a Persian prince. This now has secondary concerns attached to it because Jake is also going to be attempting an accent, as you’ll be able to tell, and also because it appears that he and his co-star Gemma Arterton don’t look like they have very convincing chemistry together. With a supporting cast that includes Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina, there is hope that these things can be overlooked, but Prince of Persia has a little mountain to climb if it wants to start winning our hearts and wallets. Get More Johnny Depp In The Extended Trailer For Tim Burton’s ‘Alice In Wonderland’

The Movie God   |

Spike TV aired its annual Scream Awards ceremony last night, where the biggest and best movies of the horror, science fiction, comic book, and fantasy genres are given their fair due. During the event, they typically unleash brand new exclusive footage and trailers from huge upcoming films that will probably be up for future Scream awards next year.

Last night, right off the bat, the award for Most Anticipated Fantasy was given to Tim Burton’s trippy motion-capture/live-action hybrid extravaganza, Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter himself, Johnny Depp, was on-hand to accept the award, and also to introduce the new extended trailer for the movie.

The trailer is completely fitting to its “extended” labeling as the majority of it is images that we have seen already. However, there are a few cool new additions to the trailer, including a fair amount more of Depp as the Hatter. [...]

DVD Review: ‘Battlestar Galactica: The Plan’

The Movie God   |

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
Director: Edward James Olmos
Starring: Dean Stockwell, Rick Worthy, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Edward James Olmos, Michael Trucco, Kate Vernon, Callum Keith Rennie, Aaron Douglas, Michael Hogan, Rekha Sharma, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis
Universal Studios
Release Date: October 27, 2009

I don’t want to be human! I want to see gamma rays. I want to hear x-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I could know much more.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is the third prequel movie that has been made within the realms of the brilliant Ronald D. Moore and David Eick re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica. The others were Razor and Caprica (which is more of a spinoff and setup for its own new series set to begin in 2010), and they offer us a deeper look into the many stories that we never saw as we journeyed through the wonderful five-season run. While Razor concentrated on another Battlestar ship and added many details to one of the stories we briefly saw in the series, The Plan is a unique and even odd kind of animal that takes us to many different points from the show.

To be completely honest, there’s not really a firm story here, but more of a completely alternative perspective to the intense and familiar events of the series. Do not think that that means that there is no story at all, though — there certainly is, and the more you think about the new things that you see within the film, the more you related them to the overall story, and this is where this movie really works well. The Plan actually plays out almost like the deleted scenes in your DVD special features section, which is kind of strange, but again, unique in its own little way. [...]

‘American Pie Presents: The Book of Love’ Trailer

Empress Eve   |

I absolutely love the American Pie franchise, especially since it stars one of my favorite comedic actors ever, Mr. Eugene Levy.

After the original R-rated trilogy movies were released in theaters, the franchise shifted to the direct-to-DVD market with their American Pie Presents line. Now, coming out on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download on December 22, 2009 is the latest installment, American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, available in both Rated and Unrated versions.

CraveOnline has both the standard and uncensored trailers for the film, which sees Levy’s return as the wannabe insightful dad Noah Levenstein, along with a story about three high school virgins who find a “legendary guide to seduction” at their school library. Unfortunately, it’s missing a few pages, which leads the sex-obsessed boys on a crazy journey to lose their virginity and reconstruct this sexual “Bible.”

Apparently, the Book of Love has a bunch of celebrity cameos, like Bret Michaels and one that totally caught my eye — C. Thomas Howell, my first celebrity crush! Now I’m really curious what he’ll be doing in the film.

See below for synopsis, casting, and DVD/Blu-ray details [...]

Benicio Del Toro’s ‘The Wolfman’ Gets A Second Trailer

The Movie God   |

If you haven’t seen anything from Joe Johnston’s (Jumanji, Hidalgo) The Wolfman, then you are missing out big time. A remake of the classic monster movie from 1941, the movie looks like it keeps a lot of that old school charm while utilizing today’s technological advancements to bring some fantastic tones and realism to the party.

Most second trailers have a nasty habit of using almost the entirety of their initial first trailer, with a few small new bits sprinkled in from time-to-time. This new Wolfman trailer is having none of that, they make sure that you get your money’s worth before you even have to pay for anything with a trailer composed of almost all new images and clips that we haven’t seen yet. Another thing the trailer does is use modern music to a period setting with some guitar melodies accompanying the old Victorian setting — always a cool little mix.

Click over for a full, detailed new synopsis and to watch the trailer, which was released via Apple. [...]

New ‘Toy Story 3′ Trailer, Casting Information & More!

The Movie God   |

It was an exciting day when the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 was released, but that trailer didn’t show us too much in terms of story and such. It was clear that the real moment of magic — not counting the day we can see it in theaters on June 18, 2010 — would be when we were able to watch the full theatrical trailer…and that moment is right now. The official Toy Story 3 trailer has been released to the masses and can be seen here below!

The trailer is wonderful, as you fairly might have assumed, and it whisks you right back to that world, complete with all the glorious nostalgia you possess there. It opens up with a nice, warm little re-introduction to the young boy Andy and his childhood with everyone’s favorite toy box before shooting us to present day where Andy — now 18-years-old — is off to college and trying to figure out what to do with his old toys. We find out that they’re shipped off to a daycare center where a rather humorous segment of rampaging toddlers tears through the bunch. This sets up the main story of the crew attempting a daring escape from the daycare and their adventure to find home. [...]

‘Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day’ Official Poster, Images & New Trailer!

The Movie God   |

We’re now officially in October and the 30th is only right around the corner. On that day, we will finally get the sequel of the decade: Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, and there’s a buzzing excitement in the air we breathe! To fuel this excitement, Sony has released an official poster, a few new images to peek at, as well as the new Green Band trailer for all to see. The first and only trailer that we saw was of course the Red Band trailer that was released last month, so this new trailer is the first safe for work look at the movie.

The trailer is basically the same as the Red Band offering, but there are differences and there’s definitely some new shots we haven’t seen yet, making it absolutely worth watching in full oogle-eyed fashion. The poster can be seen at the upper-right (click for full size) and it’s the high quality version of the poster that we’ve seen photographed at conventions. [...]

Help Needed NOW! You The Fans Can Get ‘Paranormal Activity’ The Wide Release It Deserves!

The Movie God   |

Paranormal Activity is one of those rare little indie movies that catches fire and goes on to make a legend of itself, very much like 1999’s The Blair Witch Project. Unfortunately, when a movie is this small, it’s difficult for them to acquire the funding to get a wide theatrical release, if they can get into theaters at all. The movie only cost an astoundingly minuscule $11,000 to make, and was so low-budget, that the studio was once planning to just remake it, but due to the massive reaction to it as is, it could now become something truly special. Right here and right now, we the fans of movies have the chance to help get this new film that’s terrifying audiences all over the place into theaters all over the country as it deserves, instead of just a handful of limited locations like New York and LA.

Here’s the deal: all you have to do is DEMAND the movie in your area by clicking the banner below. You’ll be transported to another site, where you simply enter your zip code, and click the button to demand it, and *poof* that’s all it takes. Ta-da! Paranormal Activity is currently creeping up toward 430,000 demands, so they’re almost half-way home, but with still a long way to go. If we all make this demand and tell all of our friends, then we can all have a little tiny hand in possible history. [...]

Must Watch: Jackie Earle Haley In ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Teaser Trailer

The Movie God   |

The Michael Bay produced Platinum Dunes horror re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street now has its very own teaser trailer courtesy of MySpace, and it’s something to see for fans of the series!

This new Nightmare on Elm Street is going in what sounds like the best possible direction: it uses the Freddy Krueger who slaughters you in your dreams that we all know and love, but it gives his character more of a story. As you’ll see in the trailer, they’re aiming to portray him as a regular and innocent dude who’s small and fairly insignificant looking and is wrongly murdered by a mob of disgruntled parents. You all know the rest.

The trailer has a lot of good stuff and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. There are some questionable additions that makes it look like it was cut using footage from previous movies including Freddy vs. Jason (creepy-ass children singing; claw scraping on wall), but it all still looks decent. See Jim Carrey In The New ‘A Christmas Carol’ Teaser Trailer

The Movie God   |

Yahoo! Movies has put out a new teaser trailer for the Robert Zemeckis motion capture holiday remake of Charles DickensA Christmas Carol. It was just announced that Zemeckis would be giving this treatment to a remake of the 1968 Beatles’ movie, Yellow Submarine, so this trailer is an instant example of what can be done using the technology.

The movie stars Jim Carrey multi-tasking like a mad man, filling the roles of Ebenezer Scrooge, and the three ghosts: the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come. It of course tells the classic tale of a wicked, greedy, bitter old man who’s cruel to all who interact with him. One holiday season, his wretched treatment of others goes too far and eventually sees him visited by three ghosts who take him on a trip through time, observing his entire life in hopes that this outside perspective of himself will alter how he treats others. Extended ‘Twilight: New Moon’ Trailer From VMAs

Empress Eve   |

A new extended trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon debuted tonight on the MTV Video Music Awards show.

Watch the trailer here below. Note, it’s a not so great youtube version for now, because the video MTV posted says ‘no longer available’ (does that make sense? No, no it doesn’t). Anyhow, when a better quality version surfaces, we’ll post it.

The film’s stars, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, came out to introduce the new trailer, which shows more of the Volturi vampires, and a lot more of the New Moon story — somewhat spoiler-ish if you ask me [...]

Watch Now: New Trailer For Mike Dougherty’s ‘Trick ‘R Treat’

The Movie God   |

Mike Dougherty’s (writer of X2, Superman Returns) Trick ‘r Treat has been around for a few years now. It was originally slated for release in 2007, it had a good buzz about it, and of the few things there were to see from it, it looked really fun. Sadly, for some reason, something wasn’t working in the mechanics of the project, and it has pretty much been delayed and delayed again since then. The movie never really recovered from this severe mishandling, and instead of being released wide in theaters, it will simply just be put out on DVD on October 6, 2009. Below, you’ll find a brand new HD trailer for the movie. If you haven’t seen a trailer yet, it’s a must watch for fanatics of the Halloween season and of horror movies alike.

While this is semi-good for those who have been waiting for ages to see the movie, it’s also very unfortunate for those involved. We live in a world where really great horror movies are an endangered species, and most horror releases are watered down and genetically modified to adhere to a younger audience that doesn’t even know how to appreciate good horror. Many of the best names and sites who really know their horror rave about Trick ‘r Treat, and as you’ll see, put it among some good company. It’s a movie that fans of the genre just can’t help but be excited to see — I know I’m twitching to finally check it out. [...]

Disney’s New Hand-Drawn Movie ‘The Princess And The Frog’ Now Has A Full Trailer

The Movie God   |

The Walt Disney Company hasn’t released a hand-drawn animated movie since 2004’s Home on the Range due to the takeover by computer animated movies and their partnership with Pixar and all of their genius releases. Home on the Range was in fact supposed to be the final Disney movie that was hand-drawn like the old days, but thankfully, for now, they decided to get back to it with The Princess and the Frog, which now has a full theatrical trailer available for viewing. As wonderful as the Pixar movies are, there is a magic that comes from these old-style hand-drawn animated movies, and hopefully this means Disney gets back to making more of them.

The movie is a new take on the classic tale of the princess who kisses a frog and turns him into a prince. It’s set in New Orleans and gained attention as the first Disney cartoon to feature an African American leading lady after so many decades and so many princesses. The Princess and the Frog was originally titled The Frog Princess, and is directed by The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules directors John Musker and Ron Clements. The main stars aren’t very well-known, but it features a supporting cast that includes Oprah Winfrey, John Goodman, and Terrence Howard.

Must Watch: ‘Boondock Saints 2′ Red Band Trailer Is Here NOW!

The Movie God   |

How long have we waited, my friends? Ten years now, and after a long production process and painful post-production wait, the glorious trailer for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day has been released to the masses!

As with most first trailers, you’re mainly going to find a lot of eye candy here. You of course get to see the MacManus brothers back in action, you’ll get peeks at returning characters like Il Duce (Billy Connolly), and then you get a taste of the new characters, which includes the new sidekick, Romeo, and Willem Dafoe’s (who’s not returning) protege, who is hot on the brother’s tails. Oh, and of course, there’s a hell of a lot of shootin’ going on here.

For those of you silly peoples who aren’t familiar with the original 1999 cult classic, The Boondock Saints: it tells the story of two brothers who believe that they do God’s work by dispatching those who are associated with evil, because the justice system doesn’t take care of it. [...]

Must Watch: First Teaser Trailer For Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’

The Movie God   |

Yahoo! Movies has the first official teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s new movie, Inception. No one really knows exactly what the movie is about except that it deals with a CEO (Leonardo DiCaprio) being blackmailed, and, as you will see, that it’s a type of science fiction movie that deals mainly (and possibly inside) the human mind. It has a huge supporting cast, including Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Wantabe, and Tom Berenger.

It has become something of a tradition for Nolan to do a smaller movie in between the juggernaut that is the current Batman franchise. After Batman Begins, he did The Prestige; after The Dark Knight, he’s doing Inception. It’s still unclear what the future holds for a Batman 3, and if Nolan will even be involved, but it is expected after the dust settles from this project. The director first made a name for himself with the 2000 film Memento, and followed that up with 2002’s Insomnia. [...]

Joe Johnston’s ‘The Wolfman’ Finally Gets A Trailer; New Images Released

The Movie God   |

The Wolfman is a movie that has been coming for a long time now. It has suffered through many delays and re-shoots thus far, which is never ever a good sign for a movie. Aside from some footage that was shown over a year ago at Comic Con (which was loved by most), we had not seen anything yet…until now. The official trailer has been released by Yahoo! Movies, and can be seen below.

The movie is a remake of the classic 1941 monster classic by George Waggner that starred Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi. It’s directed by Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park 2&3, The First Avenger: Captain America) and stars Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving.

The Wolf Man tells the story of Lawrence Talbot (del Toro), who reunites with his estranged father (Hopkins) when his brother disappears mysteriously. While there to find his brother, people start dying a horrible death, and when Talbot discovers that a werewolf is responsible, it’s not long before his life is horribly changed forever. [...]
