Watch Now: New Vampire Movie ‘Daybreakers’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

Vampires. These bitey little rascals have always been popular sources of entertainment — a fact that remains strong today with multiple movies and TV shows. Some are immensely popular like HBO’s True Blood and foreign film Let the Right One In; others are maybe not so good — depending on who you are, of course — such as Twilight and 30 Days of Night.

Whether you adore these creatures of the night, or if they’re really not your thing, the fact of it all is that they’re just not going anywhere. And with that assessment, here’s presenting the trailer for a brand new vampire tale that is well on its way: Daybreakers.

Daybreakers looks pretty interesting. It has a creepy Dark City with a touch of Guillermo del Toro’s Blade II look to it and deals with the vampire race trying to discover a way to survive when it becomes apparent that the human race is endangered and blood is running out. The movie stars Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, and Willem Dafoe. It is directed by Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig, who have also directed Undead. [...]

Must Watch Movie Trailer: ‘Zombieland’

The Movie God   |

The zombie genre is one of the most over-done in movies today, but fortunately for us, when executed properly, zombie movies can be a great time. Movies like Shaun of the Dead and Slither have taken the general concept of mass human infection, and offered up new and funny, as well as unique ways to present them. Following in these footsteps, a new flick called Zombieland has been catching people’s attention lately, and today we get our first look at the trailer.

The movie stars Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee and Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus. Tallahassee is the guy who takes out zombies with ease…almost like it’s just a hobby and Columbus is the guy who’s really good at running away. Also in the movie is Emma Stone as Witchita; Abigail Breslin as Little Rock; and even Bill Murray apparently as a zombie.

Aside from hearing the title a few times (it’s not one you forget) and a couple of casting announcements, this is the first time that I’m seeing anything from this movie, and it looks like a great ride. [...]

Teaser Trailer For ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Prequel Movie ‘The Plan’

The Movie God   |

Many fans still lay in bed at night, unable to sleep due to the end of Battlestar Galactica a few months back. We all know about and are excited that the new prequel series Caprica is on the way and has already started out with a fantastic opening movie (Read: DVD Review: ‘Caprica’); but when it comes to our beloved BSG, only one more story is yet to be told, and that story is called Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. Thankfully there’s now a new trailer and a video clip from the movie.

The Plan will combine old footage and new footage to revisit crucial points in the series and present them from the perspective of the Cylons. It’s presented by the usual suspects in Ronald D. Moore and David Eick; and it’s directed by Admiral Adama himself: Edward James Olmos.

Where the show ended is blanketed in finality and it would be nearly impossible to pick up from there and do something the fans would accept. However, there are so many layers and storylines to this world that they have created, it would not at all surprise me if more prequel movies like this come along down the road. [...]

E3 Convention Recap Madness: Microsoft, Sony & Nintendo’s Plans For The Future Of Gaming!

The Movie God   |

It has been a few days now since the E3 video game and electronics convention just came and went, leaving many exciting previews and announcements in its wake, but we here at Geeks of Doom wanted to put together a basic wrap-up for those of you who missed it all and do not yet know of all of the treasures that came of it. The big dogs in Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all had exciting conventions, with Sony and Microsoft making some magnificent announcements. Included in this mass of geek-tastic announcements: A look at Microsoft’s motion-capture attempt with Project Natal, Sony’s motion-capture prototype, and games like Mass Effect 2, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Halo: ODST, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, God of War III, and others.

In celebration of the convention and all of the great things that came out of it, we’ve decided to put together this little recap of the biggest and brightest things that we saw. We will do our very best to offer information on the products, as well as the mind-blowing videos that were shown! To start, we’ll go over the three main outlets and what they presented to us. [...]

Watch Leonardo DiCaprio In Martin Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

The first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s new film Shutter Island has been released on Apple, and it looks intense. You can head over there for the HD version of the trailer.

The movie follows Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), two U.S. Marshals who come to a prison-like hospital for the criminally insane that is located on an island off the coast of Massachusetts. The marshals are called out to the hospital due to the disappearance of a woman who was being kept there for committing murder. The confusing thing about it all, is that the hospital is in a seemingly-inescapable Alcatraz-like location with eleven miles of cold, cold water between them and land. To make things even more chaotic — the presence of a 67th patient in a hospital inhabited by 66 causes the marshals to wonder what exactly is going on at Shutter Island.

This is one of the best trailers that I’ve seen in a while. It has a really creepy vibe to it and looks like it could be a third movie among The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. I also do not think that I would be out of line to claim that this trailer alone is scarier than most full-length horror movies that we see these days. [...]

MTV Movie Awards Video Round-Up: ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘New Moon,’ ‘Transformers 2’

The Movie God   |

I’m just going to come right out and say it: The MTV Movie Awards are not quite what they used to be. Not only does everyone know the winners, allowing most of the losers to not even bother showing up; those who do win always end up being highly undeserving of the award thanks to the scary-large amount of little kids out there who rock the vote. In the few minutes that I did watch, here’s what I saw: Andy Samberg ripping off Billy Crystal’s Oscar bit; Ashley Tisdale winning “Breakout Female Performer of the Year” for High School Musical 3; Hayden Panettiere swearing a lot to show that she’s all grown up now; and Miley Cyrus winning for Best Song over A.R. Rahman’s “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire, and Bruce Springsteen’s song “The Wrestler” from The Wrestler. These few brief moments were so painful to watch, it was literally all my little heart could take, bless it so. I’ve recorded the ceremony, so I can watch the rest later with the ability to fast forward through anything so bad that it has me tempted to inflict self-harm as a valid alternative.

While the show may be unbearable to most, they do at least show a handful of new clips and trailers from some of the year’s biggest upcoming movies, and those, my friends, I am nothing but happy to share with you here! [...]

E3 Video Game Convention Preview!

The Movie God   |

Game Trailers TV had a great special on recently which debuted a bunch of great new videos for games expected to make impacts at the great E3 convention — the convention where most of the year’s biggest and best video games make their first impressions.

Below is a list of big upcoming games, a little about them, and the links to some great video previews that video game fans just need to go and watch. Once you watch one of the videos, you can search for a title on the website and watch any other videos or trailers that they may have.

Keep in mind these are just previews of some of the promising-looking multi-platform games that might be big at E3, which takes place June 2-4 at the LA Convention Center. There’s a whole lot more games than this that are coming out soon that have us all Christmas Day-excited for them. There will also be countless other games talked about at E3. Hopefully, you might find a game here that you weren’t aware of!

Think of this like our Summer Movie Mayhem, but with games. Be sure to stay tuned for any giant E3 announcements that may come along this June! [...]

Official ‘Toy Story 3′ Teaser Trailer Is Here!

The Movie God   |

Every Summer, Pixar releases their latest and greatest movie, which always seems to be be even more loved than the last. Along with these movies, we usually get just a little teeny weeny look at what next Summer has in store for us in the form of a teaser trailer. This year was a special year though, because we knew that in 2010, Toy Story 3 would finally greet us…a decade after we last saw our favorite animated toys. Unfortunately, we quickly learned that Disney’s newest return to hand-drawn animation, The Princess and the Frog, would actually be the one teased in front of this year’s Up, and that Toy Story 3’s teaser would show in front of the new 3-D double-feature re-release of Toy Story & Toy Story 2 this October. Thankfully, this did not last long!

In a joyous turn-of-events, Disney/Pixar chose not to make everyone wait that long, and hook the teaser to Up after all, and now, it is here to watch as many times as you want. [...]

Shane Acker’s ‘9’ Gets A Second Trailer To Adore

The Movie God   |

It was only a matter of time before we finally got a second trailer of the fantastic looking animated movie from Shane Acker, 9, and what do you know…here it is. The trailer is pretty similar to the original trailer that we saw (presentation wise) but there’s plenty of new images to take in, and that’s all that really matters.

9 stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer, and Crispin Glover. It is based on the short film by Acker and produced by both Tim Burton and Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov. Pamela Pettler (Corpse Bride, Monster House) wrote the script.

Click over to check out the official synopsis in case you’ve yet to read it, as well as the brand new trailer!

When 9 (The Lord of the Ring’s Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. [...]

Watch Now! First Trailer For Guy Ritchie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’

The Movie God   |

The much-anticipated first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes has finally been released to the masses courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

We all knew this was probably going to be a fun movie, but I have to admit, it looks even better than I expected. It has a great feel to it and they definitely nailed the 1800s action I was hoping for. It also shows off some of the humor we can expect to see. Along with the look of a great new Sherlock Holmes adventure, you definitely can sense the touch of Guy Ritchie — it absolutely looks like one of his worlds.

The movie is a new, fast-paced re-envisioning of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle character with a lot more action fueling the story than any Sherlock fan has ever been used to. This is the first movie in what’s hoping to become a new successful franchise; telling the origins of Sherlock Holmes, his work, and his trusty right-hand man, Watson. [...]

Could ‘Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus’ Be The Greatest Movie Ever Made?

The Movie God   |

No, no it could not possibly be the greatest movie ever made, and no, it won’t even be good…at all. But dammit, if Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus doesn’t look like the kind of awful and sickly fun movie that is just so bad that it’s completely worthy of watching and loving every second, well…I’d be wrong.

The movie takes two frozen prehistoric beasts — a massive Megalodon-type shark and a Krakken-like octopus — who thaw out and wreak havoc on San Francisco. To stop them, a plan is devised to have them battle to the death!

They even obtained the acting talents of stars Lorenzo Lamas and ’80s pop star Deborah Gibson!

The scene everyone seems to love the most is when the shark jumps up and takes a bite out of the Golden Gate Bridge, but there are other equally Michael Bay-awesome scenes, like when the giant octopus grabs hold of a submarine like he’s taking a pill, or when the shark leaps out of the water at a plane, Cloverfield style. Check Out The ‘My Little Pony’ Live-Action Movie Trailer!

The Movie God   |

Right, so if you’ve gotten this far, we thank you for sticking with us!

There’s not actually a My Little Pony live-action movie being made right now, that was all just silliness. But in celebration of the many ’80s toy titles that are on the way, including: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Candyland movie — Secret Sauce has taken the liberty of creating their own trailer for what a My Little Pony live-action trailer would indeed look like.

The trailer has all the joy, nostalgia and complete cheese you would hope and expect in a Pony movie. It was built with the obvious suggestion that it’s the newest franchise from Michael Bay, complete with hot chicks, explosions, shots of earth from space, flaming asteroids shooting across the sky, the lives of all humanity in danger, and some hot chicks. Watch Now: LOTR Fan Film ‘The Hunt For Gollum’

Empress Eve   |

Inspired by the Lord of the Rings series, Tolkien fan Chris Bouchard wrote and directed The Hunt For Gollum, a fan film which was released online on May 3.

Check out the trailers for the film here below and watch the entire film online for free at Daily Motion: The Hunt For Gollum.

Bouchard, who reportedly created this 40-minute fan film on a mere $3,000 budget, incorporated elements from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings into this story, depicts events leading up to The Fellowship of the Ring. The film follows the Heir of Isildur, as he sets out to find the creature Gollum, who has lost the ring of power to the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. The creature must be found before he falls into enemy hands and reveals the location of the magic ring. Production on the film, which was a not-for-profit project by Independent Online Cinema, begin in 2007 on location in North Wales.

Let me stress, this unofficial flick is not your average fan film. Although it was not sponsored by New Line or the Tolkien estate, The Hunt For Gollum fits perfectly into Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings film trilogy. If you’re a fan of LOTR, you owe it to yourself to watch this film. You’ll love revisiting Middle Earth and all of its inhabitants [...]

New ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’ Trailer - Devastator Included!

The Movie God   |

A brand new trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has been released through Yahoo! Movies for your viewing pleasure. The trailer basically takes the ShoWest footage that had a short run on the Internet not too long ago, and chops it down and turns it into a real trailer. The major score is the fact that not only did they include the jaw-dropping Devastator in the trailer, but they added even more of him than the ShoWest footage had!

Also worth note is the inclusion of Megatron. We all knew he was going to be in the damn movie, but until now, his presence was denied left and right, and he wasn’t even listed on that Transformer round-up that was put out (Read: The List: What ‘Bots You’ll See In ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is directed by Michael Bay and stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox along with other returning cast such as Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson. [...]

First Teaser Trailer For Rob Zombie’s ‘H2’; Possible Plot Details

The Movie God   |

It still seems like Rob Zombie’s remake of Halloween just came out in theaters, but believe it or not the teaser trailer for the sequel, H2 has already been released. (Click over to watch it!)

The movie recently had a semi-controversial story making the rounds when it was revealed that the iconic Michael Myers would be without his famous mask for most of the sequel (See: Wait, What? Michael Myers To Be Without Mask For Most Of ‘H2′?), but the teaser doesn’t look half bad in terms of horror movies. When it comes to Zombie’s movies, I think it’s all pretty straight-forward to begin with — you either dig the man’s style or you don’t. If you do, then you’ll probably find yourself enjoying the teaser trailer, and should check it out.

From what I can see, there is no official synopsis for the movie out there yet. None that I could find, anyway. I did find a synopsis on ShockYa that may or may not be accurate, so it’s included below. Keep in mind, this doesn’t seem to be official, but judging by the new trailer, it sounds pretty close [...]

MTV’s ‘The State’ Finally Heading To DVD!

The Movie God   |

Fans of the show know it and its group very well, but others may not even know it exists. In any case, MTV’s cult sketch comedy show, The State, will be finally coming to DVD on July 14, 2009. The set is expected to include five discs with every episode, as well as special features including: the pilot episode, outtakes, and over 90 minutes worth of un-aired sketches.

The show was known for its incredibly odd and random humor, which may or may not have cause an awkward feeling in the room once in a while, but always made you laugh hysterically. Some of their best work included things like Muppets, bearded men in space, and one messed up version of The Last Supper. I’m a big fan of the bearded men skit…classic.

After The State, many of its cast went on to shine. A bunch of them write and star as the main characters in Comedy Central’s Reno 911!; Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain went on to star in another sketch comedy show called Stella; Wain also wrote and directed the recent hit, Role Models; and most of the gang reunited to make one f’d up and hilarious little movie called The Ten. New ‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince’ Trailer & Posters

The Movie God   |

Slowly but surely, we’re moving toward the half-year delayed release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was initially set for a November release, but got the big push back to July 17 much to the furious backlash of fans. Now — after a tiny scoot forward — the movie is set to raise curtain on July 15, 2009, and fans are buzzing for it.

To help this excitement along, Warner Brothers has again released a brand new trailer for the movie, as well as four new posters. The posters a decent, but the shining star is definitely the trailer. As each trailer before it, it raises the level of excitement and expectation up one more level.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter; Emma Watson as Hermione Granger; Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley; Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore; Alan Rickman as Severus Snape; Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange; Jim Broadbent as Horace Slughorn; and Robbie Coltrane as Rubeus Hagrid, along with all of your other favorite returning cast members. ‘Bioshock 2′ Gameplay Footage

Keyser Söze   |

When I woke up this morning I groggily checked my Google Reader feeds while sipping on my nice cup of tea… then promptly choked on it when I read that this morning, Gametrailers landed the first official gameplay video of Bioshock 2… and it is a beautiful sight to behold.

Bioshock is one of my all-time favourite games (the “spiritual successor” to cult classic System Shock 2), and is quite possibly one of the best games released in the last five years. It remains one of the Xbox 360’s highest-rated games to date, behind only The Orange Box, and GTA IV… so when 2K games announced a sequel, I was on the same level of giddiness as when I heard about Deus Ex 3.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, take a gander at the gameplay video and check out the big sister… she’s badass! [...]

‘Where The Wild Things Are’ Trailer Debuts!

The Movie God   |

At last word, the trailer for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are was to show up in front of Monsters vs. Aliens, which is opening this Friday. Well, waiting is over-rated! The trailer debuted this morning on Ellen, and you can finally see it here.

As we hoped and dreamed, it really does look amazing. The Wild Things look exactly like the Wild Things that we saw as pictures in Maurice Sendak’s children’s novel, only now, instead of flat on our page, they’re 100% completely alive and real. You get various glimpses at moments of anger, fear, happiness, and playfulness — all those great emotions that shine so brightly when you’re a child.

One thing I’m not so big on is the song that they used in the trailer. While the song its self may be good, it just didn’t work for me here with this trailer. I think I always just looked at all of the images and the test footage and imagined the trailer would have some kind of haunting and magical score behind it.

Nonetheless, the trailer is fantastic and must be watched immediately. [...]

Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me To Hell’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

The first trailer for Spider-Man director Sam Raimi’s horror flick Drag Me to Hell has hit today. The movie stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long and follows a young woman who is cursed and needs to escape the promise of a trip to the fires of hell.

Drag Me to Hell is a bit of a return to form for Raimi, who previously directed Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness before going on to the Spider-Man trilogy. It is expected that Raimi will return to direct Spider-Man 4, but as it is with most directors helming a massive franchise, they like to sneak in a little passion project from time-to-time.

The trailer sets the table for the movie pretty nicely. It gives you a brief look at the characters, how the story starts, and where things go very wrong for Alison Lohman’s character. It looks pretty intense, but am I the only one who thinks it looks like a bigger budget sequel to Thinner? The ratings debate comes into play here, as well. We all know how that works with horror movies. [...]
