Video Games & Film Unite: ‘God Of War 3′ Demo Included On ‘District 9′ Blu-ray

The Movie God   |

Do not ask how it happened, but for some reason, this news — which seems to have broken in late October — never ever reached our ears, and this pains us. In true “better late than never” fashion, here’s the good news for those of you who also have yet to hear.

On the Playstation blog, Product Marketing Manager of SCEA, Anthony Caiazzo, announced that the realms of video games and movies would finally cross paths in a fashion that did not involve one of them making a terrible adaptation of the other or vice-versa. The big reveal was that when Neil Blomkamp’s ultra-popular science fiction drama District 9 was released, a playable demo for God of War III would be included exclusively on the Blu-ray edition of the film.

Not that anyone needed more of a reason to go out and buy District 9, but rabid fans of the God of War series will certainly be even more inclined to rush out and buy it now. [...]

Video: Taylor Lautner Debuts ‘New Moon’ Clip On ‘Jay Leno Show’ + Kristen Stewart on ‘The Tonight Show’

CrueChik   |

Well, Twifriends, we are one day closer to the premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and I am one day closer to implosion…or possibly explosion…a little of both? Whatever, point is, I’m freakin’ EXCITED! And last night’s look at the stars on the red carpet for the LA Premiere only served to fuel the fire (believe me, it’s burning, like bad vamp James funeral pyre in Twilight). If you missed it, MTV has tons of great pics here of the Cullens, Wolf Pack, Volturi, and of course, the tasty humans. I for one, have a new appreciation for the Volturi…umm, hello Charlie Bewley, I’m talking to you…B I T E M E.

The New Moon cast is all over the tube in recent weeks, and last night was no exception. Jay Leno had the ab-tabulous Taylor Lautner on his couch last night (lucky, lucky man). Yet another New Moon clip was shared, this one highlighting Bella and Jacob at something of a turning point in their relationship…and let me just say, I’d plant a tree outside my bedroom window if I knew that’s what it would take for Taycob to pay me a little visit.

You can watch the interview here below, as well as the newly released clip. We’ve also embedded the video for Kristen Stewart’s appearance last night on the Tonight Show (more on that below) [...]

Watch Now: Original Episodes of ‘The Prisoner’ Streaming Online

Empress Eve   |

AMC is currently running their miniseries remake of the original 1960s British television series The Prisoner, which will conclude with tonight’s broadcast.

While you don’t have to watch the original series, which starred Patrick McGoohan as Number 6, in order to enjoy the miniseries, I’d recommend checking it out just for your simple enjoyment.

Luckily, AMC has posted the entire original series online for free viewing. You can watch all 17 episodes in their full version, or if you’re low on time, they’ve also provided a one-minute video synopsis for each episode. Watch the pilot episode right here below.

The complete original series was recently re-released on Blu-ray and Collector’s Edition DVD.

Also, there’s still a chance to win a DVD or Blu-ray copy from Geeks of Doom in our Prisoner DVD/Blu-ray Contest [...]

The latest Star Trek film was released today on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download and a few videos from the release are now online.

‘Star Trek’ Season 3 Blu-ray To Contain Never Aired Alternate Pilot

Empress Eve   |

Fans of the original Star Trek television series already know all the details behind “The Cage,” the original pilot for the 1960’s series. The first pilot did not include William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk, and was rejected by the network at the time for being “too cerebral.” Instead of scrapping the show, created by Gene Roddenberry, NBC ordered a second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” which did star Shatner and led to the series’ three-season run.

Apparently, there was an alternate version of the second pilot which was completed in 1965 that was never aired and never released to the general public. This version of “Where No Man Has Gone Before” was completed in 1965 and features archived footage never shown before and is believed to be what was originally screened for NBC.

The alternate second pilot will be included in the release of the Star Trek: The Original Series – Season 3 Blu-ray, due out on December 15, 2009.

According to THR, the newly discovered pilot will be presented in three parts with 1970s-style act breaks and contains an entirely different version of Captain James T. Kirk’s opening monologue (”But now a new task. A probe out into where no man has gone before”) with music that contrasts from the famous opening theme and an extended action sequence.

Check out the video here below which contains some clips from the unreleased alternate pilot, as well as the full list of Blu-ray extras from the upcoming Season 3 release [...]

Watch Now: First Official Trailer For Matthew Vaughn’s ‘Kick-Ass’

The Movie God   |

We all should know the story by now: Matthew Vaughn — director of Layer Cake and Stardust — decided that a movie based on Mark Millar’s ultra-violent graphic novel Kick-Ass needed to be made, and brought it to the money. Unfortunately, none of the studios had any interest in making a movie that would include an 11-year-old girl who is deadly surgical with a Katana blade. Instead of giving in, Vaughn went down another path and pulled the unthinkable: he went and got the money all by himself…all $75 Million of it. Since this bold move, Kick-Ass has been growing into a very popular project with many itching to see this “outside-the-box” superhero movie. After some footage at Comic Con was universally praised, the studios that had passed were now battling each other for the very right to distribute the film.

Now, finally, we the regular folk of the world are able to get our first peek at this curious and intriguing little flick with the release of the very first official trailer, and it was surely worth the wait. Kick-Ass promises to be a funny, fully-entertaining movie for adults, and it is fair to assume that it won’t take long to acquire a massive fan-following. [...]

One Step Closer To ‘Skinjob’ Cylons

Tom Cheredar   |

A group of what I can only assume to be awesomely geeky engineers has created a video illustrating the first steps of a robot based on Jamming Skin Enabled Locomotion (JSEL) — or in other words, a soft mechanical skin.

The video presents a soft-skinned robot blob that can roll around and change shape, which is both creepy and amazing to watch. The presenters state that it will be able to squeeze through tiny cracks in a wall when the project is finished.

Other than being ridiculously cool, I can’t help but think that this stuff could be used in the future to create the versions of Cylons from Battlestar Galactica that look like humans (a.k.a. “Skinjobs” for all you Cylon Racists) [...]

A Look Into Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks’ New WWII Drama ‘The Pacific’

The Movie God   |

No one on this planet can make one argument against Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan being the greatest World War II movie of all time. You may like others more than it, but there is just simply no other title that is better than it or more graphically realistic and accurate as it is. Very few movies can affect a human being as that movie has, especially for those who lived that hell in their youths. After Ryan, as we all know, Spielberg and Tom Hanks followed the movie up with one of those most respected and acclaimed mini-series of all time in the HBO special Band of Brothers, which returned them to the war fronts.

Now the duo is revving up for their long-awaited new WWII mini-series entitled The Pacific, which will also air on HBO. It will obviously have a very similar tone to the stories of Band of Brothers, but the two are not related at all, and are both based on separate real-life accounts. A couple of videos have been released so far that you can check out at HBO, but below is a brand new video that takes us behind-the-scenes for some information on the show, complete with words from Hanks and Spielberg themselves. Must Watch: First Official ‘Clash Of The Titans’ Teaser Trailer!

The Movie God   |

For some reason it feels like this is earlier than expected, but without any one complaint from anyone, Yahoo! Movies has been given the honor of sharing with us the very first official teaser trailer for Louis Leterrier’s brand new vision of the 1981 mythological fantasy classic, Clash of the Titans.

The movie follows Perseus (Sam Worthington), a man born from the gods, but who was raised as a regular mortal. He eventually discovers his true pedigree and finds out that Hades (Ralph Fiennes), God of the Underworld, is preparing to forcefully take over his brother Zeus’s (Liam Neeson) power and kingdom so that he can wreak havoc on the heavens and the Earth. Being Zeus’s child and with nothing else to solidify his legacy, Perseus volunteers to lead a mighty band of warriors through the unholiest of lands to fight some of the most evil beings known to man and try and stop Hades and his plans. Video: The Music of Disney’s ‘The Princess and The Frog’

CrueChik   |

It’s almost time for Disney’s newest princess, the exquisite Princess Tiana, to make her debut in Disney’s upcoming The Princess and The Frog. Like many wannabe princesses, I’m anxiously awaiting my chance to become acquainted with Tiana and her friends from the bayou of New Orleans, and we get a chance to do just that in this new video featuring Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Princess Tiana.

Check out the video here below.

Rose is truly lovely, and her love for her role shines brightly through as she talks about some of her favorite characters and music from the movie.

Fortunately, there’s no need to wait for the film’s November 25th limited release to hear the music that accompanies this latest Disney masterpiece! The Princess and the Frog Soundtrack is being released on November 23 and may be pre-ordered right now [...]

Video: ‘New Moon’ Behind The Scenes Footage

CrueChik   |

We are yet another Monday closer to the New Moon premiere my dear Twihards and I for one am ready to combust — no, really, I mean it, I totally am, I don’t know how much more waiting I can take.

The latest New Moon video release, from the folks over at Collider, only stokes those flames. In this 10-minute behind the scenes clip, which you can watch here below, we are treated to some never before seen (at least by my eyes, and I don’t allow them to miss much that’s Twilight Saga-related) footage of the vamps, wolves, and the fragile human. We get a glimpse of luscious lips…err…Taylor Lautner as Jacob (I know, you keep thinking it, but I keep not listening LALALALALA I don’t care if he’s only 17) getting cabled up for his first wolf transformation scene where he leaps over poor confused Bella in an effort to save her from Paul (Alex Meraz), his quick tempered pack mate who’s just been bitch slapped. Do note in this nifty behind the scenes gem that we get to see a little more of Paul from behind then we probably get to see in the movie (don’t judge me, you probably would have rewound it 5 times too…in slow motion).

SPOILER ALERT (although really, who doesn’t know this stuff already?) [...]

Game Review: ‘WET’

The Movie God   |

The new game from publisher Bethesda — the brilliant developers of classics like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 — and developer A2M, WET is a game that immediately grabs your eye when you see it. Its look of pure Grindhouse-esq exploitation cinema of the 70s leads you to believe that you’re about to play a Quentin Tarantino movie, and whether you ultimately like the game or not, that alone is worth giving it a fair go.

WET follows Rubi Malone (Eliza Dushku), a bad-ass problem solver who gets what needs to be done, done…so long as the price is right. The game opens with her chasing down a man who steals what she was paid to acquire, which leads to an epic chase right off the gun that ends in a freeway car chase that would bring a tear to the eye of Michael Bay. As it turns out, the item she was paid to retrieve is a human heart that would save the man who hired you’s father. A year later, this man (Malcolm McDowell) comes back to thank her for the heart, and to hire her for another job: to find and bring back his AWOL son. This job sets off a chain of events that are a little too spoilery to share here, but let us just say that Rubi isn’t thrilled about how things go, and many, many, many, many people die because of it. Video: SNL Digital Short: Hilarious ‘Twilight’ Parody

Empress Eve   |

The “SNL Digital Short” segments on Saturday Night Live are using highly entertaining and the one that aired on last night’s show was definitely that. The short, titled “Firelight,” is horror mash-up parody of Twilight that was just hilarious.

I don’t want to say what the mash-up was, because the reveal is so funny, I don’t want to spoil it for you. But seriously, watch the video here below (though the preview image in the video spoils it, so just click on it quickly). I promise you will laugh.

Singer Taylor Swift, who was the host of last night’s show, played the part of Bella, the human high school girl who in the original story falls in love with a vampire. In the parody, she falls in love with another classic monster, and there’s even a love triangle with yet another classic monster! [...]

Video: William Shatner Recites Tweets, Immortalized In Wax

Empress Eve   |

A few months ago, William Shatner made an appearance on The Tonight Show to recite Sarah Palin’s tweets after the Alaska governor’s resignation.

Now, for the past two evenings, Shatner returned to the late night talk show to poetically recite the tweets of Levi Johnston, Palin’s teenager daughter’s baby daddy. In last night’s episode, host Conan O’Brien revealed that the first set of tweets was actually from Levi “imposter” account, therefore Shatner was brought back on to do a set of Levi’s quote that were verified.

Check out the videos here below of Shatner, accompanied by bass and bongos.

Also on the Shatner front, the actor best known as Captain James T. Kirk of Star Trek fame, unveiled his new Captain Kirk wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s on Hollywood Blvd in California on November 4, 2009. Check out the video of the event [...]

Watch Now: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Full Theatrical Trailer

The Movie God   |

If it’s true that a movie can become so over-hyped that it affects our view of the film, then James Cameron’s massively-pre-praised Avatar is going to have to really be amazing to live up to our expectations. Already we’ve seen many people let down by our first glimpse of the movie in its debut teaser trailer, but now we have a full-length theatrical trailer to watch and really see whether excitement blooms or skepticism rules on. Once again, all of these trailers won’t be able to fully present the IMAX Digital 3-D format the movie is specifically being built for, so you have to imagine it as big as big can be and as personally enveloping as movies can get.

The trailer has a lot of things we’ve seen before, but with an extra minute or so of footage, you’ll certainly see some new goodies. It seems the real concern is still the Na’vi and if you love or hate their look, but overall, imagining in the above-stated IMAX format, you can see how this will without doubt be a dreamscape of never-before-seen visual treats. If the movie hits on all entertainment levels, then we really are looking at an amusement park ride of a movie-going experience. [...]

Video: New Clips From ‘Twilight: New Moon’

The Geeks of Doom   |

I’m so not a morning person (maybe it goes with my vamp obsession…hmm) but oh, Twifriends, this morning, I was one happy ass chik! Why? Because I have in my hot little hands, so to speak, the latest New Moon vid — all of which you can watch right here below!

The Twilight Saga – New Moon Volturi Featurette offers up a peek at the special effects used to create the fight between the Cullens and the Volturi, as well as some oh so delicious interviews with cast members including Rob Pattinson, Michael Sheen (Aro), and Jamie Campbell Bauer (Caius) – umm….yum…I’m just sayin’.

Also, there’s Anya Marina’s haunting New Moon soundtrack tune, “Satellite Heart,” which features lots of Edward and Bella clips from the movie. This is my current favorite song on the soundtrack — of course, that changes daily, because I’m a fickle vamp girl and it depends on what mood I’m in but, as usual, I digress, just go watch the vid [...]

UPDATED! Jake Gyllenhaal Navigates The First Official ‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

It’s been a long time coming, but the first official movie trailer for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been unveiled by MySpace.

The trailer certainly makes its intents known immediately, and it’s pretty clear that movie-goers are either going to love it or hate it passionately. What really stands out is the visuals, which are without doubt very beautifully done. The big concern lies within the cast, which started the very moment that Jake Gyllenhaal was cast as a Persian prince. This now has secondary concerns attached to it because Jake is also going to be attempting an accent, as you’ll be able to tell, and also because it appears that he and his co-star Gemma Arterton don’t look like they have very convincing chemistry together. With a supporting cast that includes Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina, there is hope that these things can be overlooked, but Prince of Persia has a little mountain to climb if it wants to start winning our hearts and wallets. ‘Star Wars’ Themed ‘Today Show’ Turns Ugly When Drunken Ewoks Take Over

The Movie God   |

We’ve all seen it before, whether it be on purpose or while flipping thorough channels: a daytime TV show has a holiday special where they present fun and helpful tips on decorative ideas, crafty party/hosting tricks, and unique food and snack recipes.

The Today Show held one of these special shows recently (which you can see much more of in our recent post) for Halloween, and they went all out, complete with a full Star Wars theme. Hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry dressed up as Han Solo and Darth Vader, and they even brought in a couple of little Ewoks to set the perfect mood! Unfortunately, this backfired on them a little; it didn’t take long before the Ewoks took over the show. It starts off light with a little playful talking, food throwing, and stealing the Halloween cocktails, but the more reactions they got, the more they feed off of it, and that prompts them to start dancing and moonwalking, fighting each other, and humping Mr. Roker’s leg. Yes, you read that right: an Ewok humps Al Roker’s leg. [...]
