Video: William Shatner Recites Tweets, Immortalized In Wax

Empress Eve   |

A few months ago, William Shatner made an appearance on The Tonight Show to recite Sarah Palin’s tweets after the Alaska governor’s resignation.

Now, for the past two evenings, Shatner returned to the late night talk show to poetically recite the tweets of Levi Johnston, Palin’s teenager daughter’s baby daddy. In last night’s episode, host Conan O’Brien revealed that the first set of tweets was actually from Levi “imposter” account, therefore Shatner was brought back on to do a set of Levi’s quote that were verified.

Check out the videos here below of Shatner, accompanied by bass and bongos.

Also on the Shatner front, the actor best known as Captain James T. Kirk of Star Trek fame, unveiled his new Captain Kirk wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s on Hollywood Blvd in California on November 4, 2009. Check out the video of the event [...]

Watch Now: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Full Theatrical Trailer

The Movie God   |

If it’s true that a movie can become so over-hyped that it affects our view of the film, then James Cameron’s massively-pre-praised Avatar is going to have to really be amazing to live up to our expectations. Already we’ve seen many people let down by our first glimpse of the movie in its debut teaser trailer, but now we have a full-length theatrical trailer to watch and really see whether excitement blooms or skepticism rules on. Once again, all of these trailers won’t be able to fully present the IMAX Digital 3-D format the movie is specifically being built for, so you have to imagine it as big as big can be and as personally enveloping as movies can get.

The trailer has a lot of things we’ve seen before, but with an extra minute or so of footage, you’ll certainly see some new goodies. It seems the real concern is still the Na’vi and if you love or hate their look, but overall, imagining in the above-stated IMAX format, you can see how this will without doubt be a dreamscape of never-before-seen visual treats. If the movie hits on all entertainment levels, then we really are looking at an amusement park ride of a movie-going experience. [...]

Video: New Clips From ‘Twilight: New Moon’

The Geeks of Doom   |

I’m so not a morning person (maybe it goes with my vamp obsession…hmm) but oh, Twifriends, this morning, I was one happy ass chik! Why? Because I have in my hot little hands, so to speak, the latest New Moon vid — all of which you can watch right here below!

The Twilight Saga – New Moon Volturi Featurette offers up a peek at the special effects used to create the fight between the Cullens and the Volturi, as well as some oh so delicious interviews with cast members including Rob Pattinson, Michael Sheen (Aro), and Jamie Campbell Bauer (Caius) – umm….yum…I’m just sayin’.

Also, there’s Anya Marina’s haunting New Moon soundtrack tune, “Satellite Heart,” which features lots of Edward and Bella clips from the movie. This is my current favorite song on the soundtrack — of course, that changes daily, because I’m a fickle vamp girl and it depends on what mood I’m in but, as usual, I digress, just go watch the vid [...]

UPDATED! Jake Gyllenhaal Navigates The First Official ‘Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time’ Trailer

The Movie God   |

It’s been a long time coming, but the first official movie trailer for Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has been unveiled by MySpace.

The trailer certainly makes its intents known immediately, and it’s pretty clear that movie-goers are either going to love it or hate it passionately. What really stands out is the visuals, which are without doubt very beautifully done. The big concern lies within the cast, which started the very moment that Jake Gyllenhaal was cast as a Persian prince. This now has secondary concerns attached to it because Jake is also going to be attempting an accent, as you’ll be able to tell, and also because it appears that he and his co-star Gemma Arterton don’t look like they have very convincing chemistry together. With a supporting cast that includes Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina, there is hope that these things can be overlooked, but Prince of Persia has a little mountain to climb if it wants to start winning our hearts and wallets. ‘Star Wars’ Themed ‘Today Show’ Turns Ugly When Drunken Ewoks Take Over

The Movie God   |

We’ve all seen it before, whether it be on purpose or while flipping thorough channels: a daytime TV show has a holiday special where they present fun and helpful tips on decorative ideas, crafty party/hosting tricks, and unique food and snack recipes.

The Today Show held one of these special shows recently (which you can see much more of in our recent post) for Halloween, and they went all out, complete with a full Star Wars theme. Hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry dressed up as Han Solo and Darth Vader, and they even brought in a couple of little Ewoks to set the perfect mood! Unfortunately, this backfired on them a little; it didn’t take long before the Ewoks took over the show. It starts off light with a little playful talking, food throwing, and stealing the Halloween cocktails, but the more reactions they got, the more they feed off of it, and that prompts them to start dancing and moonwalking, fighting each other, and humping Mr. Roker’s leg. Yes, you read that right: an Ewok humps Al Roker’s leg. [...]

Have Fun Studying With ‘Twilight’ Test Prep Follow-Up ‘Defining New Moon’

Empress Eve   |

All the haters can say what they will about the Twilight franchise, but there’s one positive aspect about the whole phenomenon that can’t be denied — it’s prompted teenage girls to read more.

Young girls (and their moms) are not only picking up the Twilight books, but also literary classics like Wuthering Heights, and the series has sparked interest in the horror/fantasy genre in general, serving as a gateway to more books like Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire series (from which HBO’s True Blood is based) and more.

Twilight’s also become helpful in the test prep department with Defining Twilight, a vocabulary workbook to help students prepare for tests like the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT.

Now, just released this week is the New Moon-inspired follow-up Defining New Moon, with over 700 vocabulary words and synonyms found on the SAT, ACT, GED, and SSAT tests [...]

J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Trek’ Deleted Scene Brings Klingons To The Party

The Movie God   |

Another very cool part of this week’s Scream Awards on Spike TV was a deleted scene from J.J. Abrams‘ new vision of Star Trek that will appear on the movie’s DVD special features.

The scene brings the well-known Trek species known as Klingons into the mix. In the movie, the Klingons were not used and the villainous race were the Romulans and Captain Nero (Eric Bana). The deleted scene shows Nero restrained on a table while a helmed Klingon questions him and threatens to extract the information that he wants by means of a nasty little bug called a Centurion Slug that doesn’t enjoy dark, restricted areas, and will force its way out if need be. (And now we know where Nero got the idea of using said Slug for his interrogations.) Nero then finds the opportune moment and fights off his captors in an attempt to escape.

Click over to check out the deleted scene from Star Trek, which will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download on November 17, 2009 [...]

Get More Johnny Depp In The Extended Trailer For Tim Burton’s ‘Alice In Wonderland’

The Movie God   |

Spike TV aired its annual Scream Awards ceremony last night, where the biggest and best movies of the horror, science fiction, comic book, and fantasy genres are given their fair due. During the event, they typically unleash brand new exclusive footage and trailers from huge upcoming films that will probably be up for future Scream awards next year.

Last night, right off the bat, the award for Most Anticipated Fantasy was given to Tim Burton’s trippy motion-capture/live-action hybrid extravaganza, Alice in Wonderland. The Mad Hatter himself, Johnny Depp, was on-hand to accept the award, and also to introduce the new extended trailer for the movie.

The trailer is completely fitting to its “extended” labeling as the majority of it is images that we have seen already. However, there are a few cool new additions to the trailer, including a fair amount more of Depp as the Hatter. [...]

Watch: Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ On Hulu

Empress Eve   |

It’s Huluween over at Hulu where you can watch a bunch of spooky movies for FREE, like Candyman, Fright Night, and Troll 2, as well as some TV shows perfect for Halloween time like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, its spinoff Angel, and The Crow: Stairway To Heaven.

Definitely check out the selection of videos, but before you go any further, I thought I’d bring your attention to another selection up for viewing right now: Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Now, about Dracula — I LOVE this movie. Why? Oh let’s see, because Gary Oldman IS Count Dracula and as you might not know, Gary Oldman rules! Released in 1992, the Francis Ford Coppola-directed film also starred Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing and Tom Waits as Renfield. Sounds good, right? [...]

Video: ‘New Moon’ At The Scream Awards & Bella’s Birthday Kiss

The Geeks of Doom   |

Happy Hump Day fellow Twihards! Lots of delicious Twi tidbits and video to share today (WOOO!!!) from last night’s broadcast of the Scream Awards, updates from New Moon director Chris Weitz, and a new clip of Bella’s birthday kiss. Check out all the video here below.

I hope you all watched the Scream Awards last night (Edward, please forgive me, but HOLY HELL JOHNNY DEPP LOOKED HAWT…yum out man, yum out), because our fave sweet like candy shapeshifter Jacob Black, Taylor Lautner was looking quite edible (coo coo cachoo Mrs. Robinson) last night when picking up the Best Fantasy award for Twilight, as well as one of his very own for Breakout Performance.

Of course, the best part of his appearance was his introducing of some awesome new behind the scenes footage from New Moon [...]

Must Watch: The Return Of ‘Firefly’ Captain Malcolm Reynolds…Sorta

The Movie God   |

Depressing as it may be, Fox and whoever else that has had the opportunity have still not realized the must-happen decision that needs to be made to bring Firefly back from the dead. Proving that even the actors involved in the show are just as faithful to that “you can’t take the sky from me” mentality as us crazy Browncoat fans, Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) himself has been bringing plenty of Serenity flare to his current gig, Castle. It began with random and subtle references to Firefly as well as other Joss Whedon work like Buffy, but in the latest episode of Castle, Fillion took to a whole new level.

You see, this week’s episode was the Halloween episode, and what better costume for Richard Castle — the mystery novelist-turned NYPD aide — than Captain Mal? The episode is hilarious right off the bat with Fillion getting his costume on and jumping into a room like a superhero where a girl who I assume is his daughter says “Didn’t you wear that like five years ago? Isn’t it time to move on?”, to which he replies “I like it.” [...]

‘Twilight: New Moon’ Volturi Clip & TV Spot

The Geeks of Doom   |

Happy New Moon Monday my little Twihards! Usually, Mondays suck hard, but this one, ah, this one does no sucking, unless of course you like that sort of thing. But as usual, I digress…I’ve got TWO delectable Twilight: New Moon videos to share with you this fine day. WOOOOOfreakingHOOOOOO!!!!

The first is a new TV spot, called “Save Her,” with drool worthy clips of everyone’s favorite wolfie, Jake – ah yes, beautiful, shirtless Jake – phasing, jumping, and telling Bella he’s got a vampire to kill, as well as my Edward (yes, my Edward, deal with it Bella) heading to the Volturi for a little conference and a whole lot more eye candy…see for yourself here below.

And speaking of the nasty, but ever so wickedly delightful, Volturi, my second video find of the day gives us a look at humans are food, not friends vamp, Aro, trying to decide what to do with Bellsy. Naturally, the plan doesn’t include any pleasantries…and Edward swiftly comes to the rescue (at about 26 seconds into the video, I know this, ‘cause I keep pausing it there and watching it in slow motion) only to be…well…go watch it, it’s much better than anything I can tell you [...]

George Miller Talks ‘Mad Max 4′ & Shows Off New Vehicles

The Movie God   |

Director George Miller recently spoke to a news station in his homelands of Australia and discussed his new sequel, Mad Max 4. Miller talks briefly about the project, how he’s going about casting it, and also shows off some of the brutal post-apocalyptic vehicles that are being built for the movie. Unfortunately, they don’t really show the cars, but you do get a decent peek at them and an idea of what to expect.

Miller explains that the vehicles have to be incredibly high-performance to accomplish the shots that they need, but that they also have to be very safe for all the insane stunts that Miller promises will be used. Because of this, he says that it will take about a year to fully construct them all and that this extended time period is also to ensure that they raise the bar considering how much things have changed over the past 30 years in both action movies and film making in general. He then moves on to casting and admits that they’ve been “furiously” going about the process, but that he still has no idea who will be involved yet. [...]

The Geeks Of Doom Guide To Geeky Halloween Costumes

The Movie God   |

We at Geeks of Doom love Halloween. The smell in the air, the leaves changing color to mark the occasion, and all of the old edited horror movies playing over and over on your TV make it one of the most entertaining and exciting times of year.

Back in 2006, we compiled a list of some of the best geek costumes on the market for those of you who do not yet have an idea as to what you want to be. It’s already been three years now, so we thought it was about time to compile another epic list of costume options for the undecided (which includes myself).

While checking these costumes out, keep some things in mind — most importantly: pretty much every costume that you see will have multiple styles of varying price and quality. The majority of the ones we have here are in the $30-$50 range, but you can find really high-quality “Deluxe” versions of the costume that will run you in the $100-$200 dollar range. These are for the folks who have money to spare and love authenticity. If you’re out of your freakin’ mind, there’s even Batman and Darth Vader costumes that will run you $700+ dollars. If you don’t like the one we’ve linked to, just search the character and check out all of the others that exist. Most costumes have children’s versions available, too. We’ve included some great kids’ costumes, but if you find an adult one you’d like for the little ones, just search it out! [...]

Benicio Del Toro’s ‘The Wolfman’ Gets A Second Trailer

The Movie God   |

If you haven’t seen anything from Joe Johnston’s (Jumanji, Hidalgo) The Wolfman, then you are missing out big time. A remake of the classic monster movie from 1941, the movie looks like it keeps a lot of that old school charm while utilizing today’s technological advancements to bring some fantastic tones and realism to the party.

Most second trailers have a nasty habit of using almost the entirety of their initial first trailer, with a few small new bits sprinkled in from time-to-time. This new Wolfman trailer is having none of that, they make sure that you get your money’s worth before you even have to pay for anything with a trailer composed of almost all new images and clips that we haven’t seen yet. Another thing the trailer does is use modern music to a period setting with some guitar melodies accompanying the old Victorian setting — always a cool little mix.

Click over for a full, detailed new synopsis and to watch the trailer, which was released via Apple. [...]

‘Venture Bros.’ Season Opener Cut Short for West Coast

Tom Cheredar   |

Viewers on the West Coast were treated to the first half of the Venture Bros. Season 4 premiere twice last night, but were denied the last 15 minutes of the program, according to a comment thread on the Adult Swim message board.

The error was experienced by only the Western region regardless of cable provider and was corrected during the 4 AM encore show. [Most of Geeks of Doom's editorial staffers are based on the East so we lost no sleep.]

So in other words, you weren’t drinking too much last night and did not actually experience a temporal shift in time.

For those of you who may have missed it, Adult Swim has uploaded the episode in its entirety to their Web site [...]
