  • JACKASS NUMBER 2 was the No. 1 movie in the country over the weekend. Johnny Knoxville and his pals raked in $28.1 million, easily defeating runner-up JET LI’S FEARLESS, which earned $10.6 million.
  • An animated series based on Mel Brooks‘ 1987 STAR WARS spoof is heading to the G4 network. SPACEBALLS: THE ANIMATED SERIES will debut next fall. Brooks, who co-wrote the pilot, will voice two of the characters – President Skroob and Yogurt, the same one he played in the movie. [Link]
  • Justin Long, best known for those Mac commercials and DODGEBALL, has joined the cast of LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, the fourth installment in the Bruce Willis franchise.
  • Russell Crowe supposedly wants to play the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin in a bio-pic. [Link]
  • Another unfinished Tolkien tale will be completed and published next spring. J.R.R. Tolkien began writing the tale — THE CHILDREN OF HURIN — in 1918, but later abandoned it. The author’s son Christopher Tolkien has worked on finishing the book for the past 30 years. [Link]
  • The BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER comic book series is now scheduled to launch this March with a four-part series. As previously reported by Geeks of Doom, the eighth season of the canceled TV show will be in comic book form with Buffy creator Joss Whedon writing and art by Georges Jeanty. [Link, with new art.]
  • The complete second season of the BBC’s new DOCTOR WHO series will be released on DVD in the U.S. on January 16, 2007.

And we’re back!

Dave3   |  @   |

Geek Nation,

After exactly one week of complete and utter missing-in-action madness & connectivity chaos, G.o.D. is now comfortably residing with a new, hopefully more competent, hosting company.

Dreamhost, you look sooo good on paper. Please don’t let us down!

Again, I’d like to extend my deepest apologies to all of our readers. Our old hosting company (2mhost.com) dropped the ball and screwed the pooch like it was their last day on earth and all they wanted was revenge on us. I’ve never in all my life had such a horrible support nightmare as what they put me through, and I advise the entire internet community to steer miles clear of them!

2mhost, frak off and die you wretched hive of scum and villainy!!

Dreamhost, come to papa!

Ok, now then, after six and a half straight days of sleepless nights and unholy hell, I need to take a knee and recuperate. So until next time, I leave you with these parting words of wisdom…

“Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.” “” Unknown

Cheers,
Dave3

My Geeky Brethren,

Well, those frakers at our hosting company (2mhost.com) did it to us again!

As you may or may not have noticed, yesterday afternoon G.o.D. went down yet again. For sixteen hours we were websita non-grata, and when finally the geniuses at our hosting company got us up and running again, they had lost an entire four days of our G.o.D. database.

Published stories, upcoming stories, draft ideas, user comments… everything GONE!!

They apparently had to restore the site using the last working version that they had backed up– from Thursday the 14th. The very same back-up they used when they completely fucked our site for most of a day and then some, last week!

We know what you’re saying, and the answer is YES, we’ve got a new host lined-up. But we’ve been down so frakin’ much these past few days that we’ve yet to be able to obtain a reliable back-up of G.o.D. to use for the move (shit host conspiracy?).

Well, hopefully today the Geek Gods will smile upon us and make it possible for us begin the move.

We can’t even begin to apologize for the horrible way this site as been acting since Friday. All we ask is that you bear with us until we can complete the move.

Thanks Guys, Gals!

Apologetically,
Dave3
