‘Watchmen’ Movie Photos Vs. Comic Art
  |  @   |

Maxim has an article comparing the four recently released Watchmen movie’s backlot set photos to the original comic book illustrations by Dave Gibbons.

In the comparison, you can see how well the backlot set matches up to the comic book and read the Maxim commentary, some of which I don’t totally agree with. The sets were designed to look like 1970s New York City, which is the when and where the Alan Moore-penned comic takes place. Take it from someone who grew up in New York City during the 1970s — the set designers nailed it.

Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, which stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson, hits theaters March 6, 2009.

  1. Good luck to the film makers. As I discussed with Tom Slaski,Watchmen is unfilmable. But the sets sure look nice!

  2. From every shot I’ve seen and interview I’ve read — so far so good, I must say. This sets look good.

  3. What can you say about that shot? It’s dead on. But what about all the other settings that really play a large roll. What about Mars? That will be CGI no doubt, but I guess it’s a good sign that they are trying to be so true the the comic. They may be able to catch the visuals of theWatchmen , but can they catch the essence of the Watchmen…
