‘Secret Invasion’ Hits British Empire, Defended by ‘Captain Britain’
  |

If you have been living underneath a rock for the past little while, then you may very well not know that we have entered the next Comic Book Event year for DC and Marvel, the latter of which is fighting off an invasion from outer space by villains who have a major inferiority complex ever since Reed Richards turned them into cows.

That’s right, the Skrulls are invading Earth, but thankfully, they aren’t just invading America.

As an Australian and, more importantly, “˜not-an-American’, life can get a little tedious when the whole world seems to take place within the 48 contiguous United States (ever notice Alaska and Hawaii don’t get much play either?). So when Marvel decided to introduce Captain Britain and MI:13 into their Secret Invasion storyline, there was worldwide rejoicing.

In fact, the news wasn’t just restricted to those websites deigning to write about comics. Britain’s Mirror ran a story focusing on Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s comicization in Captain Britain and MI:13. Apparently (I have yet to sit down with the book), Brown sits down with the book’s hero, Captain Britain to discuss the impending invasion. The news was subsequently picked up by some of Britain’s leading newspaper, including the Telegraph, the Guardian, and the Daily Mail.

Captain Britain and MI:13 #2 came out yesterday, and sells for $2.99 USD. Check out CBR, where they’ve got the first 8 pages from issue number 2.
