Writers Want Hulk As A Villain In ‘Avengers’ Movie
  |  @   |

MTV did a little looking into who could possibly be the villain in The Avengers movie, which has many superheroes fighting together as a team. When asking The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier, he said he would rather they used a hero as the villain.

So, how about the Hulk himself?

The boys who wrote Iron Man, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, happen to think that’s a fantastic idea, stating that they believe everything has come around perfectly for Hulk to be the hero-villain in The Avengers.

Fergus says:

I hope “˜The Avengers’ embraces that, you don’t want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where’s the fun in that? Let’s break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it’s based on love and friendship and that’s always the worst thing to have turn bad “” is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in. I personally like when good-guy characters have to fight each other,” he said. “Good guys going against good guys who both believe in an issue is way more interesting than a villain clearly into evil and I like when former friends become committed enemies.

This would be an extremely interesting approach and I have to agree with everyone who likes the idea. I’m not a wisdom in the world of comics, but I do know that all these big time heroes fighting one villain would be a boring-ass fight. Bringing in a gigantic and powerful hero to battle would add a lot of elements to the story, especially considering the good vs. good drama. On the other hand, in full Hulk mode, he’s not very talkative and evil, he just goes nutsy on people and things, so this would make a tough villain — in the purest sense of the word, anyway.

One answer would be to try and find a way to gather a collection of villains to fight, or find or create the absolute most insane villain to end all other villains. But I assume people wouldn’t like this. Again, I’m no one to assume or says what’s right here, but it’s an interesting topic and it will be fun to see it play out.

  1. Hey hulk vs the avengers worked in the Ultimates comics run, and in the Ultimate Avengers animated movie. I kind of expected this to happen.

  4. Considering the Hulk was a villain before he joined the avengers, this should come to no surprise. It actually should be expected.

  5. Umm, did that first guy actually speak of that Spiderman 3 piece of trash in a positive manner? That character was awful. He could have been a possible decent villain, but he was actually… a power ranger looking guy? Who did nothing except add another aspect of crap to that film.

Anyways, lets hope this Hulk as villain possibility takes nothing from Spiderman 3 and everything from the Ultimates comic book. Thats some good reading.
