  |  @   |

Amazon is currently offering some great deals right now for movie fans of the digital age with their Video On Demand service. In their Digital Movie Sale you can purchase digital copies of some movie favorites for only $5.99 — buy the movie, then watch it instantly through the VoD player and all your purchases will be stored in your Video Library for future viewing. You can also download it to your Windows PC to watch them offline (or if you have TiVo DVR, you can send it there to watch on your TV).

If you’d rather try out some rentals On Demand, there’s also a deal on Digital Movie Rentals with newer movies, like The Dark Knight, available now for only $1.99 for a 24-hour viewing period.

We’ve gone through and selected a few movies that are definitely worth the price if you don’t yet own them, along with some picks for top rental. Check out some of these great titles available in the list below. Amazon lets you preview over 2 minutes of each selection, so click on the links to check that out.

Ghostbusters
There’s not much that needs to be said about this one. Everyone knows it, everyone loves it. It’s the classic sci-fi comedy in which the group of Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson will come to you and rid you of any ghostly issues you may be having. A must-own.

Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Terry Gilliam‘s fantasy adventure about Baron Munchausen and his crazy adventures. There’s so much going on in this tale, which stars a young Uma Thurman, that it’s hard to even explain, but there’s no denying that the movie is done in a way that only the mind of Terry Gilliam can compose.

Snatch
Guy Ritchie‘s brilliant follow-up to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The movie follows various characters and their involvements in theft, fighting, gangs, and murder and how all of their stories eventually cross paths. This one would come highly recommended by many people.

Bad Boys
Even Michael Bay haters may ponder grabbing his movies at this price. We all know everyone loves the bang-bang anyway, even if it’s denied to their deaths. The original flick about two Miami cops played by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence and their humorous and intense method of getting the bad guys taken care of… which usually consists of fast cars and a ton of explosions.

Adaptation
The movie from screenwriter Charlie Kaufman and director Spike Jonze which follows Nicholas Cage as Charlie Kaufman, a screenwriter going through a mid-life crisis while trying to adapt a book about orchids into a movie while his fictional brother Donald, who is also a screenwriter, finds success in his budding career. Even the oft-attacked Cage delivers a great performance. Highly recommended by I.

These are just a few of the movies up for cheap grabs, you can find many more options if you follow the link above.

Also available at the site are digital rentals as low as $1.99 for some of the movies nominated for Oscars. These movies include the aforementioned The Dark Knight and Tropic Thunder, as well as the highly-praised documentary Man On Wire and for only $.99 the Jeff Bridges comedy about a bunch of lovable losers want to make world’s most innocent adult film, The Amateurs. Other popular movies are available for rental for only $2.99 or $3.99.

We all love good movie deals, so if you’re looking to add to your digital collection or just bored and want to watch one right now, go check it out!
