Once upon a time, we heard the wonderful news that we would be eventually seeing both animated and live-action TV shows based in the world of Star Wars. The Clone Wars animated series has come along, but we hadn’t heard any news on the live-action show — a show which had most people already hooked with promises of being “Deadwood meets The Sopranos in space” and rumors of it airing on HBO. Though the HBO thing is probably too good to be true, now comes some surprising news that the show may be casting already.
While speaking at a panel for her new movie — Knowing, with Nicolas Cage — Rose Byrne (28 Weeks Later, Sunshine) let it slip that a lot of her buddies have auditioned for roles on the show. Byrne had a small and not very visual role in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, but says she won’t be auditioning for the show as she currently stars on Damages.
The TV show’s storyline is expected to fall between Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Star Wars IV: A New Hope. While the show will take place in the world of Star Wars and you will see many familiar things, don’t expect to see any of the most familiar names and faces. Maybe we’ll get lucky and catch some cameos, but for the most part, these will be unknown characters.

“…promises of being “Deadwood meets The Sopranos in spaceâ€
How about we just get “Rome” in space.

I remember seeing a promo still about three years ago of the young Boba Fett/young clone actor holding one of his famous blasters. I’m fine with him making an appearance or three as long as he’s taken some acting classes since Attack of the Clones. His line delivery was dreadful, and he didn’t even have to say much.

I am a huge fan of Star Wars and have mixed thoughts on the TV series. I mean none of the main characters are going to be in it, and who really cares what happens between the two trilogies if you aren’t going to discuss the characters in the two trilogies. The movies have great reviews already, why fix something if it isn’t broken?

I was one of those who saw Star Wars in a few selected theaters in 1977 in Michigan City. My brother and I have since enjoyed the Star Wars galaxie. Bad reveiws or not, all opinions put aside, the depth that Star Wars has in infinite with possibilities for new characters and interesting machines. We had a blast with all six Star Wars films and Clone Wars–always ready to see what story George wants to share. Shoot, we’ve made our own games, characters and action figures based in the SW galaxie. Okay, so we were SW geeks! Now we’ve got our wives and sons loving it! C’mon George, trust your feelings, let it flow through you!
