In memory of Michael Jackson, CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood will be transformed into Universal Moonwalk, a massive outdoor celebration of the performer and his legendary career, on July 9, starting at 7PM.
The free event will include screenings of Jackson’s Thriller music video/short movie and his The Wizard of Oz remake, The Wiz. Along with the screenings, a special live dance retrospective will be performed. This dance retrospective will showcase the many years and styles of Michael Jackson’s musical offerings and dancing styles.
As we all know, Michael Jackson died last month after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 50 after years of incredible stress and unfathomable amounts of medications were just far too much for his body to handle anymore.
This is just one of an uncountable amount of Jackson tributes, memorials, and coverage — all a massive sign of how much bigger the persona was than even the man himself. Earlier today, Los Angeles came to a stop as the entertainer’s public memorial service was held to a full Staples Center, where friends and family shared memories and performed some of his songs.
For those of you not familiar with this theme-park extension, CityWalk is a summer-long, seven-days a week celebration at the Hollywood and Orlando Universal Studios theme-park locations. The CityWalk strip is for free area where visitors can take part in whatever that particular night holds, whether it be dancing, theme nights, concerts (including bands from the past like Tiffany, and celebrity bands including The Lost Boy‘s Corey Feldman’s band and American Pie‘s Thomas Ian Nicholas’s band), movies (including Transformers, Kung Fu Panda, and The Goonies), and various other festivities, dining, and shopping.
Ok enough about MJ now jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

It’s great that Universal Studios Citywalk is doing this tribute. Too bad it wasn’t advertised long enough. I would have loved to attend. Long live the king! MJ R.I.P.
