‘Fable III’ Announced; Details, Possible Release Time Frame
  |  @   |

Peter Molyneaux, Creative Director for the Microsoft owned Lionhead studios, was in Germany recently and made the announcement of a little game called Fable III.

Anyone who loves the games knew that a third game would be coming eventually, but with four years between Fable and Fable II, this is pretty exciting news. And not only was the game announced, Molyneaux stated that it would be released for the holiday season of 2010. Yes, that’s right, Fable III will be out (barring any push-backs) one year from this Christmas!

While this announcement is thrilling to fans such as myself, details of the game are few. Then again, any details at all this early into development are a treat in and amongst themselves, so we shall take whatever we can get our greedy little gamer hands on.

Click on over to read a quote from Peter Molyneaux and to get a brief idea of what Fable III will be like.

Here’s what Molyneaux had to say about the game

We’ve spent a lot of time at Lionhead thinking about how we can innovate the gameplay and progress the world of the “˜Fable’ games for its third chapter, and we’re confident that players won’t second-guess what we have planned for “˜Fable III.’ Though I can’t give too much away right now, players should expect to have to make much tougher choices with far wider consequences than ever before in Albion “” and with many more interactive adventure elements.

As video gaming technology has grown, so has the Fable franchise — offering a wonderfully fantastical world to adventure through. With the unveiling of Project Natal at E3 this past year, I developed a sick obsession to see the program used to create the completely interactive and terrifying boy Milo also used to create the conversational elements in a future Fable game. Can you imagine using your controller to walk around Albion and do what you need to do, and then when you go into a dialogue with an NPC, it transfers to Natal and allows you to vocally communicate with them? This would be the ultimate gaming experience.

Sadly, I doubt they’re so far along where we could see this in Fable III (if ever), but I will continue to dream of it. If you’re listening, Mr. Molyneaux, let’s do this!

Here’s the dirty details about the game straight from Microsoft and Lionhead.

In this new adventure, players will witness tyranny, poverty and injustice plague their land. They will see a people divided, and they will be compelled to stand up for change. They will also be forced to answer a question: What would you sacrifice to secure the crown of Albion? Will you uphold the values and principles that led to your ascension, or will you be corrupted by the station you’ve strived to acquire? Will you be a monarch of the people, or bring the entirety of Albion to the brink of collapse?

In the epic story of “Fable III,” the journey to rule the throne of Albion begins five decades after the events of the last chapter, and you play as the child of your hero from “Fable II.” As you rule your kingdom as king or queen, you will be called upon to make choices and sacrifices that will test your morality and can affect your entire kingdom. Themes of heroism, leadership and consequence are taken to a grand scale as you fight to unite a divided people.
