Halloween

Bob Weinstein, head of The Weinstein Company with his brother Harvey, has announced to the LA Times that they are already developing a third chapter in the re-booted Halloween franchise, that they will be calling Halloween 3-D — a loving tip o’ the cap to ’80s horror threequels.

Shock rocker turned film maker Rob Zombie directed the first two movies in the resurrected franchise, but decided a while back that Halloween II (which opened this weekend) would be his last work in this world. Not to waste any time at all, the Weinsteins say that they already have another director lined up and in-negotiations, who does have experience with horror movies, and has an entirely new vision for Michael Myers — which means this may already be an whole new reboot within the reboot.

Horror has always loved 3-D technology, whether it was Friday the 13th 3-D or Jaws 3-D in the ’80s, or those who use the new and improved 3-D like the My Bloody Valentine remake and this weekend’s The Final Destination. Fittingly enough, the newest Final Destination beat out Halloween II in this weekend’s box office battle, so the jump to 3-D is quite predictable.

Do you care if more Halloween movies are made, and if Rob Zombie is involved or not? Who would you like to see replace him?

If I’m putting my money on anyone out there, it’ll be Darren Lynn Bousman of Saw fame. You watch.

  1. I would take Darren over zombie, but hell, even call back John Carpentor since Mustopha REALLY screwed him on the original. Well, not really screwed, but never really gave John props for making him filthy rich-but now Mustopha is dead, so maybe that it some tragic irony.

  2. i don’t understand all the Rob Zombie hate. With the exception of Halloween 1, 2 and H20 all the Halloween films were average at best, and shite at their worst. At least Zombie brought back some brutality and made it more interesting than the other boring remakes.

  3. I LOVE everything that Zombie does. He is a horror genius. His Halloween movie was not nearly as good as House of 1000 Corpses. I guess thats what happens when he tries to remake CRAP instead of delving into the wild mind which is Zombie.

  6. I love how he remade the original halloween movie. He brought michaels character out more to the audience than the original ever did. It showed us more of who michael was. He did an excellent job making them. I wish he would make the third too

  7. Fuck the Halloween haters !
Rob Zombie needs to make a Halloween 3. What I like about Rob Zombie’s Halloween is that it is new improved and this is the new improved Micheal Myers and he kept it fresh. The plot made alot of sense of why Micheal became such a sick killer it’s has more of a story and the scenes in these two Halloween movies are more realistick and better. I think this was better than the original.
Tyler Mane did a fantastic job of playing Micheal Myers and Rob kept the movie fresh and the mask look more scary.
Rob Zombie Halloween 1 and 2 kicked ass.
Fuck the Halloween haters, Rob Zombie needs to come back and make a Halloween 3

  8. They are only doing that just to make the movie more new and improved. If you don’t like than go back to the original loser.
